We are a blue blood with multiple titles under our belt. Lets stop bitchin and move on,because I guarantee some other schools that didn't make the tourney would love to be in our shoes. Fire josh for what? He hasn't done anything bad enough to get fired yet,and until he does he's our coach.

We should hire an asst. to teach our team X's and O's when we pay him 2.65 mil a year?

I can tell you why I think we should be an elitist university. Because we have great history. With great players . We are a great city, and have a great basketball tradition. We haven't had just one good run. We have had several. We have an nba arena. great facilities. great fans.

We could just watch Louisville, and Kentucky, and Kansas and others continue to win, and be ok with just being ok. That's just not me though.

I love your zeal...I really do. But seriously? We do not have a "great history", or "great basketball tradition". We have 3 final fours in forever, your tradition probably only goes back 10-15 years. We have a great arena and great fans, I love the university, but seriously.

By the way....let's use UCLA as an example...compare UCLA when Wooden left to Memphis when Cal left.

Im not trying to incite anything. I just have a high opinion of our program. I think we have as high a ceiling as any school.

As much as I loved that 4 year run we had our was probably the worst thing to happen to this fan base. Even though we were told over and over it wasn't going to last I think some just didn't believe that.

X's and O's aren't as big a problem as finding a defensive minded assistant. I think Josh is pretty good at x's and o's. Having some help with it to bounce ideas off of would be a great addition.

So are you saying that we should just be proud of our past accomplishments like a Houston? We should allow our team to fall into obscurity, lose the interest of top recruits, and like the Cougars…brag about our past tradition as the past falls to $hit?

We have had serious runs in every decade since I was born in the 70's. I don't comment on era's before that, because I don't know. Im just saying, we might not be UCLA, but why can't we be.

Nobody is entitled. The op confuses entitlement with a desire to be great. We've seen it can happen here at Memphis. Why not make it happen versus just settling for the old "we've never been so we never will" attitude. That's weak in my opinion and a sign of not wanting to work hard enough to achieve greatness.

So you have to have titles under your belt to demand that your team play defense and take better shots and run a better offense? You have to be a blue blood for your players to play with intensity or for fans to expect such things?

This isn't 1950-2003.

Compare our basketball budget, facilities, recruiting classes, salaries, etc.. To any of the so called blue bloods.

Once you do that, come back in here and tell all of us how we once again should not expect our players to play defense, take better shots and so on.

You can compare our facilities all you want. You nay be surprised at what you find. We're not who you think we are and or who you want us to be. Get out of your shell Patrick.

I don't think anybodys wrong. I don't know if your wrong or im right. I expect we want the same things out of this program, because we are both fans. I'd kinda like to think we are just as worthy as any other program who supports their team the way we do.

It seems the fans that will die for pastner are the same that don't care about trying to elevate the program to elite status.

Im not sure why some say that we cant. We have been in that game twice. We don't deserve anymore than we expect. I have no idea about the politics of the program or the expectations of some. I think we can win as much as anybody though. I have high standards, but im not unrealistic. We are just capable of doing it, and we shouldn't settle for anything less.
