RE: College Basketball TV season Ratings
Interesting analysis by conference. The Big East commissioner can't be smiling and I don't imagine the folks signing the checks for cable rights at Fox are any too happy either. There is no good way to "spin" this for either party.
It begs the question, if the new Big East had two top five teams playing one another (which seems less and less likely given their current membership) would viewers tune to Fox1 to watch? My guess is they don't even want to think about the answer to that one. If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around...

The conference linked to FS1 are the bottom of the list. PAC-12 also suffers from being from their geography. If C7 stayed with the football schools there is a good chance everyone would be making more money and the ratings would be really good on ESPN.

It was a lot more money. Wasn't it $1.3 billion, or something like that?? The football schools would have gotten a bigger share, but it still would have been more.
The thing is, it was the football schools that balked at that offer....and then Pitt and Syracuse ultimately left.

The problem is that most general/casual fans are oblivious to FS1. Even people that have FS1 don't realize they have FS1.
Fox needs to do a better job of marketing it. When ESPN started ESPN U, they used the flagship network, and even ABC to promote it. You would see games on ESPN, and then you'd see promos for future games on ESPN 2. Fox is doing none of this. NASCAR fans are tuning in wondering where the hell the Speed Channel went, and then changing the station when they realize it's this new FS1 channel. Other than that, and the diehard fans that are actually seeking those games, out, no one is watching. There are no channel surfers or casual viewers.
That's why I think they should put one game a week on the Fox flagship network. But, as per usual, no one asked me for my opinions or suggestions.

I think MLB Saturday's will definitely help more people find the channel.
