Marquette reportedly just hired Shaka Smart. Announcement within 24 hours. Saying 6-Year Deal. Marquette Alum Doc Rivers was apparently a key piece in the negotiations.

Seriously, though, this would be a huge recovery for MU and the Big East from the loss of Buzz Williams.

Wow. I for sure saw Shaka going to one of the top blue chip programs after VCU.

Would be huge but nothing nationally yet regarding it. Would be a critical hire for the Big East in my opinion. Marquette has to have a home run hire here I think. Shaka would be by far the best option out there IMO.

Would make some sense, Shaka is very Madison, Wisc. Sometimes there is a lot of value in going home.

Plus he could still parlay that into a higher profile gig if he chooses to. The Big East is worlds ahead of the a-10 from a media exposure standpoint & Marquette has shown their willingness to compete at a high level

He turned down Illinois. Marquette - I can see. others, no

Doesn't sound like it's a done deal at all. He's told parents/recruits that he isn't going anywhere.

Tom Crean's not going to last long at Indiana--I'd say a reunion helps everyone.

Shaka sure has trolled a few fan bases over the past 3 years...

If true, this development seems to show that the BE, even in its slimmed down Catholic format, is a step above the A-10 from a budget standpoint.

He missed the NCAAs, he has athletes transferring, and he's at Indiana.
