I have never bashed our coach, players, or our program, but tonight was extremely hard to watch.
I am as down about it as I can possibly be. I've said it before and I will say it again...sleep will not come easy tonight. There are some things I would like to say about where we are right now.
1. Coach Pastner...I like to think of myself as a nice guy too. But that is not always possible in my chosen profession. I can't imagine your profession is any different. Sometimes you have to kick a little ass to get the response you need. I think you should surround yourself with better basketball personnel. Its OK if you are not the best X's and O's guy. Some of the greats are not...hell just look at Cal...he is no K and never will be. Also please change your interview style.
2. Joe Jackson...I think Josh is right about you. You have been under the spotlight since you chose Memphis. You need to find a way to play with emotion all the time if you want your career to continue. I will miss watching you play and will never forget your block against the Zags.
3. Austin...I believe in your future...but please spend this off season in the weight room. I thought the VA guys would trouble you tonight, but they scored at will. Time to toughen up.
3. Good-bye Chris, Geron, Nixon, and Pellon. I will miss your flair.
4. Nick King will be special.
5. Goodwin...seems you lost your game down the stretch...but you are a joy to watch.
So is tonight the end of the world? No. Is there room for improvement? Yes. Do I love Memphis basketball? Yes. Will I return next season to watch every minute? Hell yes! But now it's Braves season. I don't know why you guys are Tigers fans...I am an alumni and proud of it. So show your pride and believe in next year.
