I think Pastner felt a sense of loyalty to that 2010 class; thus, he wouldn't bench them when they played poorly like he's done with Nichols and King who have responded well.

This is how I see it to some extent also. These guys were the first ones he had time to recruit and he put the extended effort into getting them to come to Memphis. They were there for him as a young coach, so he was loyal to them to a fault.

They were also recruited to play in a league we could dominate with talent. That isn't going to cut it going forward - we're in a real conference now and need the players to compete in it. And a coach and staff that need to develop a better scheme to use the players coming in.

Very true. We were built to simply run CUSA teams out of the gym. Next year will be very telling whether we truly need a coaching change. Pastner will have a full roster for every position that he's recruited for the new conference we're in now.

He better play a conventional lineup next season no more gimmicks. Each player should play in the spot that best suits their play style.

great post.

greater post.

Coaching most definitely did let the players down. They started by practicing a press defense during the pre-season that they never used wasting all of that team development time. Furthermore, they promised to use the roster depth they had but underdeveloped.

What a SAD performance... Time for a change
I trying to remember one charge takin by a tiger this year?
2nd point: Chris Crawford hasn't taken a free throw this post season. I wonder why that is? Maybe because we played 34 games this year and Mr. Crawford has only shot 29 free throws. This guy is 6-4 230 lbs.
3rd point: We can't shoot but we continue to jack up 3's. Jo has only made 22 this year!!!! 1 in the post season. Geron not any better has only made 24 all year but they keep shooting them and the coach keeps saying we didn't make shots!

Jacking up 3ptrs is what we do so maybe since this finally came to light (another time) josh will focus more on inside-out and actually running plays. Sets would be cool to see next year.

I remember DP taking a couple early, but no one else tried.03-weeping Matador Defense most of the time03-banghead DJ tweeted it best, " all these athletes and won't nobody block a shot". smh If we don't recruit a rim protector, more of the same can be expected with CJP style of play.07-coffee3

Nick King got wasted this year... Like I said, Pastner never developed his bench.

I got wasted last night...

Don't begrudge a man what the school was willing to pay him.

I've never coached a day in my life, and I guarantee you I could get a team up for a NCAA tourney game.

I had the same thought regarding his pregame speech. We'd be better off with a WWE actor to at least get our guys motivated.

Correction..ANYONE who contributes in any financially tangible way is contributing to his salary..indirectly. Don't kid yourself. Attendance and or donations decline gets the AD's attention, and by extension the powers that be.

It was as embarrassing as the performance on the floor. Like I said earlier, Josh has become the punch line of a joke.

RE: What a SAD performance... Time for a change
Too bad this season ended this way. I almost wish we would have lost a few more games early, played a little better late, gone to the NIT, and had Josh tell all of our fans this was a sweet sixteen team if it would have made the tournament. I watched most of our fans handle that (and buy that line of BS) much better with a team with just as much if not more talent in 2005.

This season was dissapointing for sure, but this has been the nature of the core of this team for all four years. The first time I saw what I saw last night was in 2010 against Kansas. I saw it in Maui, agaisnt St. Louis, in the Bahamas, against Michigan State, and too many times this season. When the wheels come off they come totally off.

I am not ready for a change. I am actually looking forward to a team built around Shaq, Austin, and Nick rather than a guards that, for whatever reason, are great one night and fall to pieces the next. I have enjoyed watching Chris and Joe for four years (and G for two), but for every good game they have had they have had at least one that defies logic.
