ODU just received a couple of commits the past few days. I'm too lazy to look them up, but from what I read they look promising.

Rivals and ESPN are absolutely horrible when it comes to ODU's recruiting. Verbal Commits has the most accurate stuff I know of.

I would count those as 2013 recruits. Charlotte has two four star transfers that sat out this year, but since they were already on the team, I didn't count them.

I guess I can add them in though.

They're missing our biggest commitment. 6'10" center Edison Avila.
JUCO signee who enrolled in January and is already practicing with the team. Originally committed to Oklahoma.

RE: 2014 CUSA Basketball Recruiting
If you're adding in transfers, Robert Brown transferred to UAB from Virginia Tech and sat out this past season.

From high school, Rivals had him ranked as a 4 star player and 82nd in the 2011 class. Brown started 29 games in 2 years at Virginia Tech.

UAB

Jarvis Calhoun, SG - *** committed in March of 2013, shut down recruitment early.
Chris Cokley, PF - ***
William Lee, PF - **** by espn. 64th nationally. 15th best PF.
Nick Norton, PG- **
Lewis Sullivan, SF- *** He could be a 4 *. He committed and shut down recruitment in early July of 2013. Evaluations stopped.

Robert Brown- SG- ****, apart of UAB's 2013 recruiting class, redshirt junior transferred from VA Tech. Class of 2011. 81st nationally by espn. 24th best SG. Eligible starting this year.

Fixed it for you.

A lot of hype to live up too.

Jeremy Jones, Rice commit is actually a football qb commit.

oh. Rivals had him listed as a basketball recruit. Were they recruiting him for both at some point and he decided to go with football?

UTEP is in the mix for Brice DeJean Jones who is transferring from UNLV. He originally signed with USC when UTEP assistant coach Cantu was the head coach there. He was rated #97 overall and a 4* guy coming out of high school. He led UNLV in scoring this season and is scheduled to graduate this summer.

RE: 2014 CUSA Basketball Recruiting
Rice signed 2 in the early signing period - Maurice Rivers (6-7 forward from Atlanta) was the other signee. They almost got a steal in 6-8 Jackson Davis from Louisville but he didn't sign in the early signing period and then ended up decommitting (and probably will sign with an SEC school instead).

Ben Braun was a disaster for Rice but he could recruit so I suspect the two that we signed aren't bad. We also have a 6-8 freshman (Denzel Davis) who redshirted this year due to a knee injury.

We will never wow anyone with recruiting rankings. We don't necessarily need the best players, rather we need the right players.

Never know. Two years ago I would have said the same thing about someone like Louisiana Tech, but they brought in a very nice class.

Keep doing what you're doing and recruiting will improve (not that you guys have done a poor job of it the last few years as your record attests).

RE: 2014 CUSA Basketball Recruiting
After looking through the A10's recruiting, what we have is really not all that far off from what the A10 does.

One major difference though is JUCO's. The A10 signs considerably fewer.

The top recruiting classes (by stars/rankings) in CUSA are comparable to the top recruiting classes in the A10 (except VCU).

Old Dominion fans, don't get too excited about Javonte Douglas just yet. He committed to Southern Miss, then committed to Pitt and now he's committed to ODU. He can't seem to make up his mind.
