MyBB Does UVA have a big that can score
All of the talk about memphis being able to play fast vs VA is overshadowing one of Memphis's even bigger weaknesses. If we look back at their losses to good teams this year and even their game against GW there is a common denominator. A big that scores and keeps their respective team close enough to finish the tigers off.

Memphis got a big lift against GW when Geron head butted Creek had Creek been available all game long the tandem of him and that big (forgot his name) would have definitely made the game very difficult for the tigers.

I have no doubt that our guards can keep other teams guards in check for the most part but when Shaq and Austin have to slowdown an opposing teams big that's when we seem to be at a disadvantage. I don't think VA run a lot of plays for their bigs so if it's a guard vs guard match up I like our chances.

If anyone has some insight on VA's bigs it would be appreciated.

I guess you mean when Geron and Creeks bumped heads. Geron didn't "head butt" him. They both were rubbing their heads after the fact. Geron was at the time shutting him down and did so after he came back. A non issue in the game. Geron can be a differnce maker on defense, hope he brings a 110% tonight.

I know he didn't intentionally head but the guy. Creek did hit two late threes in the game so he wasn't a total non factor but that is besides the point I wanted to know about VA's bigs Memphis has had problems slowing them down this year.

The person you should worry about is Anthony Gil. I believe he comes off the bench for UVA but he's averaged double figures in scoring for UVA their last 5 games. He's 6'8'' 230 and probably their most athletic player.

UVA is a perimeter team that packs in on defense. If our bigs stay out of foul trouble, then I think they can do some damage.

They had some bigs scoring in the first game. They play extremely physical in the paint.

So they foul and get away with it? Otherwise how to you play physical in the paint? Why are some allowed to play "physical" and others are not?

Guys, this is going to be a half court game. Virginia will be sending 3 players down down the court each time they shoot the ball. You can't have transition when there already down the court.

Will be interesting to see how we deal with this.

I didn't think they were that big and didn't someone say they didn't have an offensive rebound? If true, then our offensive rebounding has to be in high gear.

One of their papers said that they leave only 2 players to attempt a offensive rebound while the rest get back on defense

That's good and bad for us.
