He's from Leeds Alabama which is not very far outside of the city.

He should have been a UAB player instead of AU... He claimed UAB to be his first choice, but he was a HS senior when we went to our first sweet 16 and had a lot of seniors coming back which lead to us going to the elite 8 in 1982. His side of the story is that Au had more playing time to offer him as a freshman. In spite of him going to Auburn and not UAB, he comes to our games fairly regularly when he is in town. He's also donated plenty of money to our medical school

I love b'ham....is some of the prettiest southern countryside....have always been envious of that and the surrounding tributaries....fishing rules in bama vs. ms...oxmore valley and ross bridge....yeah, played both many times too....

the scribe describes why I love CB's candor.....he's speaks from the heart and wears it on his chest....the gods of media are not supposed to allow that in front of the camera

they can't stop this man and his message....he is required viewing in my mind....

Love Charles Barkley. He has so many great quotes out there. One of my favorites was from this past football season: "The only thing saving Johnny Manziel right now is Miley Cyrus."

Agree that the TNT NBA crew are way better than ESPN talking heads when discussing hoops.

I like Barkley with the NBA.

He doesn't know college basketball, though. And I get tired of him and Kenny analyzing teams they don't know anything about.

At least he keeps Gottlieb off my screen for at least a little while. That is the one person in the history of television to become more insufferable AFTER leaving ESPN.

It was a joke. I don't get the Reed Green hatred... I love the way it blends into campus and I actually think the projector / screen approach is pretty clever. I'd be just fine with taking whatever money we're about to spend on it and spending it on coach salaries instead. Our football coach should be at $1,000,000 per year, as Fedora was. Tyndall probably deserves a big raise, too. But Reed Green upgrade hysteria is pretty strong right now...

And I guess I'm just not allowed to make jokes any more. Point taken.

RE: OT: Charles Barkley
Just one fan's opinion.......

Barkley is a bolt of fresh lightening in a corporate-money driven, NYC centric world of sports broadcasting.

While he makes mistakes on college ball because he's not involved daily, his comments (appear to) come from his heart and not some back-room manufactured scheme to drive up viewership/subscription rates.

He's one of the very few that has the confidence to admit a mistake when he makes one.

I like that his backdrop in his wikipedia profile picture is all pirated out. Did some crazed ECU fan do that. See below:
