Losing 5 solid seniors vs. Gaining 5 freshmen
We're losing 5 very experienced, solid, dependable guys who combined have 23 years of college experience. They are being replaced by 5 very promising freshmen who combined have 0 years of college game experience. It will be fun to watch how HCJH and staff mold them into a team and fold them into the returners. Exciting times.

No substitute for experience, but the departing players were horrible shooters while some of the freshmen have promise to be much better in that area. We won most rebounding battles last year so that is something we really need to continue with the smaller, less mature bodies that freshmen bring.

Agree. The Departed were solid citizens and solid role players, but were not dependable or consistent.
Our rebounding stats were helped out by our bad shooting.

Definitely. If we shoot better and add about 10 percentage points to our FT shooting we will be more than halfway to a better season. However, many of our FTs were a result of having strong inside players who were fouled a lot as a result so there could be fewer FT attempts this coming season. Tipped putback attempts are also counted as rebounds - we had a lot of 'em but seemed to miss most.

It could be 6 freshmen depending on the last scholarship. I would hope for a juco big, but Haase knows best.

Most JUCO bigs that begin in juco as a freshman don't work out in D1 simply because of the nature of juco basketball. Its an up and down the floor game that benefits guards and forwards. Most bigs end up running from one end to the other - back and forth. Those that have success are those that start in D1 and return after being relegated to JUCO for whatever reason(grades, suspensions, etc).

Just saying you have to be really selective. You could end up with Fahro or you could end up with Beas...

Our excuse for next year is we have at least 5 guys playing d1 ball for the first time. There is no doubt that we are going to have some ups and some downs next year. I think we'll be better next year than we were this year, but our freshmen are going to determine if we are a good, or great team next year.
