4) Familarity w/ UofM: He served two years as Chairman of UofM English Dept. in the 90's. He already knows the university's strengths and weaknesses (and most of the faculty).

5) Goals: His stated goals of increasing research grants, student enrollment and graduation rates are correctly prioritized and his plans to achieve them are sound.

6) Important Plus: His many contacts and inside knowledge of the Big 12 Conference would improve our chances of future inclusion.

Thanks, and yes, I am a pompous ass. I, however, don't have a agenda. I enjoy good back and forth discourse with fellow Tiger fans. This is one of the few outlets I have to discuss Tiger athletics on a regular basis. Consider yourself fortunate that you can go most places and run into fellow Tiger fans. I don't have that luxury.

Sounds like you boys have yourselves a genuine conspiracy theory. The only trouble with it is that you have jumped to a false conclusion. Don't you think it's silly to think that just because there is a big basketball game tonight (I have butterflies in my stomach just like most other Tiger fans) that we shouldn't also be able to discuss other important university matters? The only agenda I have is to see my alma mater be a great university renowned for both academics and athletics. Believe what you want though - whatever tickles your tush.

I don't agree with GA a ton, but he is correct on this all the way. The right president will not only drive the balance between athletics and academics, he will also be a figure in any current realignment. I would say this hire is much more important than the basketball game I'm 30 minutes.
