well that was easy. What's left to be said about Bumgarner? Now it's all hands on deck for game 6. Peavy should just go HAM for 4 innings and then give the ball to Petit for a couple innings

Madbum's my cousin. I hope the Giants can get it done in Game 6. I have a feeling both teams will see a lot of pitchers. I hate not having Matt Cain right now.

Sad news yesterday out of Dominican Republic. Cardinals Prospect Oscar Taveras 22, died in a car accident. Times like this remind you how little baseball actually matters and criticizing players who only hit .250 or don't get enough strikeouts really don't matter in the end.

So depressing. Not only is it always sad to lose such a young person, but baseball lost the kind of talent it really needs. What a cruel thing to happen

Just tragic. #3 rated prospect going into this season. Whenever someone like that dies like this makes you realize like nbcards said how little baseball(and sports matters).

Royals up 9-0 T7 in G6....

If this goes 7 I might actually tune in to watch as I'll watch a G7 in any sport.

wow stats not in the Giants favor. Last 8 teams were down 3-2 coming home and winning game 6 of the WS. All 8 went on to win game 7.

To include the Royals themselves back in 1985.

Last team to lose game 6 and win game 7- the '75 Reds.

So if you're Bouchy, when do you bring Bumgarner in?

If I were Bochy I wouldn't have pitched Petit last night- started him- and when Petit got tired bring in Bumgarner. Hope he could get to the 8th inning....

RE: MLB 2014 season thread
well going to be a long pen game tonight. Bumgarner I'm guessing comes in the 5th or 6th.

The next 2-3 innings huge. Whoever leads after 5 wins the game....

This was the Giants year. I figured it was before the Series started - and I was right again.

I'm often wrong. But I'm pretty good at seeing who's coming in hot at the right time. I guess I got that from my father, who was the Baseball Writer's Association of America's Sportswriter of the Year in 1977. He was the best.

I never said he'd be a superstar. He's a good defensive infielder, and has power at the plate. But he started out this season off his game, which was probably due to the planer faceitis that eventually shut him down for a while. After he came back off the DL he became the Padres all-time leader in home runs by a 2nd baseman and raised his batting average from .162 to .210, after basically missing 2 months of the season. So while he could have done better, he's knocking in a lot of the Pads runs. Many more than most. And that's what counts, in the long run. I expect his batting average will improve next season. This was just his sophomore slump, I guess. Although I think the injury had more to do with it than anything.

gotta say i didnt realize he had such a good second half. Guess when you're on the Pads you tend to fly under the radar.

Unfortunately, there's a good reason for that.
