Spring Scrimmage
There were mistakes on the field today, but there were also players stepping up and making some noise. Without going into too much detail, here are some quick observations from today:

-Zed Evans brother Erik had a nice day at RB. He has a burst, vision, some power, and made some nice runs. North Texas has a nice rotation of backs, so Evans will have to keep impressing coaches. If he does, I'm sure he will see some carries next season.

-Williams, Greer, and Means are tall and athletic QBs. Williams seems to have the best arm and a knack for making something out of nothing, but there is plenty of room for improvement.

-Fred Scott is a very hard hitting LB. He could be a monster.

-The Defensive line looked better then I expected them to look. North Texas lost all of their starters from last season. If these guys can step up, UNT might have another good defense next season.

Despite the usual mistakes associated with the 1st scrimmage of spring ball, the size, speed, and athleticism of the Mean Green look much better then I was expecting.

RE: Spring Scrimmage
Football: UNT scrimmages, receives bowl watches

“This might be the most important spring since I have been here,” offensive lineman Mason Y’Barbo said. “We lost some guys in key positions and lost some leaders. We have to find a new identity and guys to step up. We can’t take this spring lightly.”

Each workout and meeting in the spring is a part of the rebuilding process. Scrimmages are especially vital considering there are so few and they offer the best insight into what the Mean Green’s top options might be when it comes to replacing its cornerstones of a year ago.

UNT ran 55 live plays in its second scrimmage.

Redshirt freshman quarterback Dajon Williams continued to show flashes of potential at times while showing his inexperience at others. JUCO transfer Josh Greer, freshman Connor Means and veteran Andrew McNulty also played well at times while competing with Williams for the starting job.
