Seemed like everybody picked GW to beat Memphis
Was it because of our performance in the AAC tournament?

Rogue perception?

Random "upset" pick?

Something else?

The AAC is viewed as CUSA 2.0

4-1 in the NCAA tournament. CUSA is 0-1 in the NCAA tournament.

Could end up being 5-1 after UCONN game.

Just from poking around other forums, most fans from other schools seem to have this ridiculous idea that Memphis basketball is nothing but a bunch of undisciplined thugs that play streetball. The prevailing theory is that if your team plays smart, fundamental basketball that you will easily beat Memphis.

I have no idea why people still think that, almost half a decade post-Calipari. Whatever. Keep picking against us.

I didn't say the AAC is CUSA 2.0. I just answered what this league critics think

I'm thinking that was the general retort to the naysayers. Not directed at you.

I think a lot of people picked us to beat GW. Now, the people who picked Mercer over Duke and Harvard over Cincy - you know, the ones who still had viable brackets - a lot of them seem to have picked GW to beat us.

Indeed. And the one little thing that gets under my skin these days is why don't they think that about Kentucky now that Calipari is coaching there. I hate the rep we have. Sure would be nice to go past the sweet 16 soon

I read somewhere that there were three people that had perfect brackets in the billion dollar predictions going into the Memphis/GW game and all three of them had picked GW. Our game made sure that there would be no perfect bracket.

The simple fact is that the national perception of our program is not going to change--it doesn't matter what our APR is, or if the Pope is our coach. If our program is successful, the perception is that we're cheaters and thugs. Just learn to accept it.

Logically, that would mean we are the toughest team to figure out.

Thugs comment...totally unfounded...Plain stupid...Heck we are basically a finesse team

Undisciplined...Now that has a foundation...Especially defensively, Even today. When Cal was here it probably went more the other way more discipline on defense and a little more "creative" on offense.
