Ohio should be able to host all of the games. No other team left will be able to match your bid.

Too bad EMU faced a choice between a more expensive away game in Ypsi or a less expensive away game somewhere else.

EMU had a six-point lead with less then ten minutes remaining, then got outscored something like 21-2 the rest of the way. Talk about the wheels falling off.

Just released...

Ohio hosts VMI this Wednesday night in the Convo. VMI comes into the game as the number one team in the nation in scoring average at 89 points per game. They also come in at #349 in the nation in giving up points at 83 points per game. The way we can play defense, I am liking our chances of keeping them out of the 80s, 90s, and 100s. (They have gone 100 or higher in 10 games this year.)

I would be very surprised if they can keep VMI out of the 80s, given the Keydets' pace.

this is the one matchup I didn't want. I don't think a run and gun game bodes well for the Athens MASH Unit.

A test of whether RPI means anything at all ...

85 Ohio
101 Towson
130 Columbia
135 Pacific
145 Murray St{*}
149 Yale
155 San Diego
208 Omaha{*}
218 VMI
{*} Playing tonight

... if the Bobcats want it, even with the loss of their senior center, they ought to be able to slow down VMI enough ... and ought to be able to score enough on a defense that must rely on that fast scoring offense.

And though it can be hard to get up for playing in the CIT, if a team has reached the quarterfinals, they are one win away from getting onto TV, which ought to be incentive enough.

re: RPI- VMI has already beat in this tournament #96 Canisius 111-100 and #115 IPFW 108-95. They've been playing well.

I think it might be hard to get up for the CIT for about 5 minutes and then the ball drops. If you saw the faces of the players when Jon Harris' shot missed the other night you would know they were up for it.

I think its sometimes the pre-game prep that can suffer, but its still not that uncommon for the hungrier team to beat the team that would be favored on paper in the CIT early rounds.

But a chance to get on one of the second tier national sports networks ... especially a chance to get on playing on your home court ... that's something substantial, entirely independently of whether anybody has heard of the tournament.
