I think something else is going on. I wonder if Marquette was having a hard time attracting players with the changes in the Big East.

When Marquette changed AD's last year, the $2 million buy out in Buzz's contract was replaced with one for $100 K. Buzz had to move now while he could still parlay his tournament success of recent years into a high profile job. If he had followed this season with another bad year, Marquette could have bought him out for peanuts and no one would have been interested in him.

Word out of Milwaukee is that the university was happy to see him go. It's a bad move for him although apparently the best opportunity he had after Auburn showed no interest in his inquiries. He took a cut in pay to go to a school where football is king and basketball is a coaching graveyard. I don't expect him to be there long. If he loses, he's out on the street just like Jones. If he wins, he's looking for a better deal.
