The key is pacing himself so he's still got his good stuff in the 7th and 8th innings.

Ewing two out double after Byrd and Cook ground out.

But Reeves strands him with another ground out.

Zech issued a two-out walk, but no further damage (strikeoutK, ground out, line out). Now, let's see if we've learned our lessons against left-handed pitchers-- will our right-handed batters look to go opposite field?

Byrd tried to bunt, but right back to the pitcher.
Cook ground out to SS.
Ewing opposite field double! Good sign.
Reeves grounded out to 2B.

Scoreless heading to the top of the second inning.

Zech gives up a leadoff single, but induces an inning-ending doubleplay. Great catch by Aquino in LF for the first out. They're getting good "wood" on Zech early.

Hoelscher struck out.
Aquino flied out to RF. At least he's looking to go the other way.
Stainback
Well, at least we're being aggressive against a pitcher with very good control, but so far no dice.

Scoreless heading to the top of the third inning.

1-2-3 inning for Zech (two strikeoutsKKK, ground out).

Warren ground out to 2B.
Taylor singled up the middle. Runner on 1B, one out.
Byrd singled. Runners on 1B and 2B, one out.
Cook grounded out, but both runners advance into scoring position with two outs.
Ewing gets an RBI on a ground out, with Taylor scoring before Byrd is tagged out in a run down. 02-13-banana Strange play, but we'll take the run.

Good guys lead 1-0 heading to the top of the fourth inning.

1-2-3 inning for Zech, with another outstanding defensive play aiding the cause.

Reeves hard single into the gap, but out trying to stretch it into a double. Another questionable baserunning decision since that was the leadoff hitter. We've got to stop the frequency in which we've been running ourselves out of innings and scoring opportunities.
Hoelscher ground out to 3B.
Aquino line single up the middle. Runner on 1B, two outs.
Stainback struck out swinging.

Good guys lead 1-0 heading to the top of the fifth inning.

Zech gives up back-to-back one-out singles, but then bears down and gets the next two on strikeoutsKKKKKK to escape unscathed. Time for the offense to give him some more support.

Warren grounds out to 2B.
Taylor flied out to RF. At least we're not trying to pull everything.
Byrd walked. Nice AB. Runner on 1B, two outs.
Cook grounded out to P.

Good guys lead 1-0 heading to the top of the sixth inning.

Zech gives up a two-out walk to Sanger (his second BB of game), but nothing more (two strikeoutsKKKKKKKK, ground out). Heart of the order due up-- time for offensive explosion!

Ewing struck out swinging. We still have not had a leadoff baserunner.
Reeves struck out looking.
Hoelscher ground out to 3B.
Shane is in one heck of a slump. He's the one guy tonight who continues to try to pull everything. It may be time to drop him in the order a bit.

Good guys lead 1-0 heading to the top of the seventh inning.

Zech gives up a leadoff single, but strands the runner at 2B (single, sac bunt, line out, ground out).

Aquino
Stainback singled.
Warren bunt single. Runners on 2B and 3B, one out (after throwing error). Need to put the ball in play here...
Taylor grounded out to 3B. Runners still on 2B and 3B, two outs.
Byrd grouinded out to C.
Missed opportunity.

Good guys lead 1-0 heading to the top of the eighth inning.
