ESPN 3 is broadcasting ALL matches, so it's crazy fun trying to keep up. TV coverage hasn't been so hot, as they keep leaving matches midway. If you're only going to cover part of a match, make it the end we see who actually won! That being said, this is a busy time for me, so I haven't followed things as much as I'd like.

MAC isn't faring particularly well IMO, despite (or perhaps b/c) much parity this year. Many upsets on the first day, and Edinboro in 7th place shows how competitive it all is. Iowa St is having a much better tournament than their past few seasons, OkSt and Okla are both doing well, once again, put them in the MAC and it would be great.

It also seemed to me that there were a lot of intra-conference match ups that first day, at least for MAC and ACC.

UNI did well in the lower weight classes, although Lazor wrestled only the first minute and final 20 seconds of his match against Minn...still it was enough to pull the upset (not a good day for Minn's Dardanes twins. Heh).

Mizzou had their studs (Houdershelt, Cox) come thru.

ODU choked except at 184 lbs, where the top half of the bracket is crazy right now (not that it matters for the championship).

CMU has fallen quite a ways from a few years ago; it feels just like MAC football. I will say Smith (CMU) and Germaine (EMU) wrestled tough in their loss.

Thanks for posting. Traditional MAC teams really struggled. Surprised that Kent, Buffalo and NIU dodn't show up at all.

Kent is in 34th place, one point behind #32 CMU and half a point ahead of Ohio.

Quick summary, as I'm about burned out on wrestling right now.

MAC didn't do well in semi-finals at all. Definitely need help.

UNI- disappointing in the semi-finals for Colon. He let Graff really get to him. He rallied back for 3rd place.
Lazor was hurt in the consolation semis. Did get 4th after forefeit.
Peters looked great, and even tough against Delgado in champ bracket, but seemed to fade in consolations.

Mizzou- Houdashelt, bad luck that Tsirtsis was a 5th seed (politics there), but if you're going to be champ, you beat all comers. Looked down in consolations.

Cox- Looks very good, will face a tough Hefflin (ZSU) in championships.

Kent- Miller looked tough whole way, except got soft against Ness. Strong finish over defending national champ, except for cheap face shot. I hate Oak Harbor.

ODU- Very impressive performance by unseeded Dechow. Ended up at 4th.

I will provide my thoughts after I get back from the championships.

One quick observation: Both the Big Ten and ACC have logos on their singlets. The MAC needs to do this too, especially as we have some wrestling-only schools in the league.
