I think you have me on ignore, so you might not see this...

But when I started using iMovie, what really helped me was using tutorials on Youtube.

Whatever software you are using, I suggest just watching videos on Youtube to get the basics.

When I start a thread in the People's Forum, anyone who is kind enough to respond I read their posts. Thank you for the suggestion, youtube is a great idea.

Well, that's an issue too. I started with Movie Maker 2012, but that seems to suck. Here's my dilemma currently: I recorded my video onto a DVD using a Sony VRD-VC20, which does so in vob format. However, Movie Maker doesn't work with vob. I then copied the files onto my computer and tried changing the extension to mpeg. It worked in that the movie plays fine, but Movie Maker will not import them. And that's where I am now.

if you aren't afraid to download free programs off the internet, download MPEG Streamclip. It converts your video to different formats. Have used it in the past and my anti-virus hasn't detected any malicious threats yet.

Thanks Cletus. Right now I'm going the free route, but that isn't much for a really top notch editor so I'll remember it.

You can also try to upload the files to zamzar and let it convert for you...has saved my backside on several occasions. LOL
