Blake Bortles Pro Day
Sounds like he's had a pretty good day. On ESPN2 right now.

Edit: Well was on ESPN2 for a couple of minutes.. didn't hash out any specific details, just spoke highly of him. Definitely looks like an NFL QB to me.

I have to say that this tops off a banner year of PR for UCF. 27 NFL teams, ESPN and all the major press corps in your field house with a giant "UCF" in the middle of the field. All in the off season. If UCF can keep the momentum going in 2014 it would really be a big deal.

by all accounts he crushed it. Its between him and Clowney for #1 pick. I heard bridgewater might drop out of the 1st round altogether, but I think he'll be a top 10 pick to whoever doesn't get bortles or manziel.

Blake will be fine. Top QB taken and maybe 1 overall. What I'm excited about is what the OP mentioned - huge publicity for our little school here in Orange County

Bortles, Bridgewater, Manziel and Carr will be fine...Houston, Jacksonville, Cleveland, Oakland, Tampa and Minnesota need QB in the worst way...the 1st two QB coming off the board will be AAC QB...04-cheers

Oh, yeah....some "Little School"...you guys have the largest enrollment in the State of Florida and one of the biggest in the Country...04-cheers

As a Bucs fan, of course it would be a dream come true to see Blake in Tampa, but I don't expect that to work out. I've always been indifferent to Jacksonville, despite being just 2 hours north of where I live. If that franchise showed even some level of competency, I would be happy to see Bortles stay in Florida. But the Jags are so bad and so mismanaged, I would be very concerned about those buffoons taking Blake and then throwing him to the wolves with very little talent around him. I think the one evaluation of him is correct in that he needs time to develop (like most rookies do). If given that chance, I think he could end up as a terrific NFL QB. But, throw him into a dumpster fire like Jacksonville or Oakland and expect him to turn around the franchise could be very bad.

First time in years, that I will be interested in the NFL Draft. Can't wait to see Bortles go #1 to Houston. A place he could win immediately. I'll finally have a team to root for in the NFL.

Bill O'Brien after 3/4 of the Bortles workout was quoted as saying "I've seen everything I need to"

I'm already buying my Bortles Texans jersey.

That's interesting. If I were owner or GM of the Browns, I'd be metticously studying each qb and attending every pro day possible. They must know who they want.

I take it is they are going are placing more emphasis on their own Private Workouts, Private interviews and the actual game tape.

Pro Days are a small part of it and really something you can't go by...nobody had "Better Pro Days" then Blaine Galbert and JaMarcus Russell and we saw how that turned out...Matt Ryan had a crappy Pro Day and still went in the Top 5...but if Houston takes a QB it going to be Bortles...much better fit for the Texans than Bridgewater or Manziel...for Bridgewater not really getting past Oakland at 5 from rumors out their...the QB that I do see falling is Manziel...maturity issues like Geno Smith last year.

Late first or early second round - sure, why not? But imho using the first pick in the draft on Bortles would be utter folly.

Respectfully disagree with your humble opinion, if the most pressing need is qb, the texans will take Blake first overall, because IMHO he is the best qb available in this class. After the combine and pro day workouts, Blake has apparently established himself as the qb in this class with the most upside, and most gifted physically of the top three qbs.

RE: Blake Bortles Pro Day
I was watching the Jacksonville feed of the UCF pro day, and they suggested that if Houston picks Clowney over Bortles, then St Louis will start talking to Jacksonville, Cleveland, and Oakland about what they can offer to make sure they get him with the #2 pick.

It sounds like the analysts were impressed with how Bortles' mechanics have improved by training with Jordan Palmer since the end of the season. They said he has a lot of raw talent and appears to receptive to coaching so he should only get better with more training.

WTF?

Thought this thread was about Bortles Pro Day.

Believe there was another thread on Bridgewater's Pro Day.

Are you THAT insecure you have to spew duplicated posts about Bridgewater in a thread about Bortles?

No...the article talked about both QB's and both basically had back to back Pro Days...geez....you are somewhat oversensitive and you need to get over yourself...enjoy the fact that this conference will have two 1st Round QB & your school now has a BCS Bowl win over the Big XII Champion..05-nono

Feel the same way with Bridgewater...if not Houston would rather see him either in Houston due to Franchise stability, Cleveland due to OLine led by Joe Thomas or Minnesota...

I'm not a Texans fan, but I don't have anything against them, either. I think BB or TB could fit in nicely there. I just can't stomach BB going to Minnesota. He would be the 3rd UCF player to get taken by the Vikings (Daunte Culpepper, Josh Robinson). I don't have the same level of hate for Minnesota that I for teams like Oakland, Pittsburgh, etc., but I have no love for them at all.

it was an awesome day for Blake and UCF. Just happy to see the University exposed to so many big names in the national media. It can't hurt future recruiting, 'it can be done here'

Saw a photo of the Bill O'Brian and the Texans GM & QB coach on campus getting some lunch. Hopefully seeing our campus opened up some eyes among the NFL and media folks who were there.
