Same as comic book origin. Crashed plane in arctic in 1945 and was frozen into suspended animation.

That story is actually told in the first CA movie. It starts with them finding him in present day and then tells the story of how he got there.

OK, that explains what I lost watching Captain America...

I'll watch it again.

So here is another question, why is the fourth Spider Man called Spider-Man 2?

Fifth...

Fourth was called The Amazing Spider-Man.

Seriously, Sony thought the original series was getting too expensive and they had to keep making Spidey movies to retain the rights so they rebooted the series.

Globally.

Superman isn't that big outside of the US and Captain America has the Marvel Universe to support it.

The first captain America made less than $200 million outside the US. Winter soldier might reach and exceed $500 million.

I guess what's amazing to me is that Captain America is a second rate superhero compared to Superman. I don't recall many kids dressing up as Cap when I was kid. It's not like Captain America has some kind of global appeal. He's actually just like Superman in that he's too much of a boy scout.

It really is a testament to how good a job Marvel is doing right now.

With the success of the Avengers and all I can see Cap 2 doing big numbers.

Anyone else burned out on all the Marvel movies?

not at all. they've been good so far. If they stay good, they can keep making them. I keep looking forward to the others coming out.

Burned out? Hell no, there aren't enough of them. And Agents of Shield needs to be twice a week.

You are completely right.

It also helps the two Captain America movies have arguably been the best Marvel Studios movies.

That said, an April release with little major competition helped the movie gross as much as it did as well. This is also the reason I think Marvel moves Capt 3 to April 2016.

Thor 2 came out in a busy month with three movies that grossed more than it came out within the month.

Parallel it to animated movies.

As long as they are high quality, there will always be a market.

How many genres attract both children and young men?

Comic book movies have been blockbusters since 1978.

I'm not against comic book based movies but the Marvel Avengers series has 2-3 movies a year coming out. It's almost like a TV show episode and even a good product can suffer from to much exposure.

Just my opinion. That is the reason I didn't go see Winter Soldier. I'll probably wait until it comes out on DVD.

Basically, CA is a nazi wet dream. Kinda create the "perfect human." You get a good charactered individual and then juice him up with a bunch of roids...voila you have CA.

Superman--from another planet
Batman--watched parents die, had money and wanted to fight crime
Spiderman--nerd who was bit by spider
CA--nerd who got on the juice
