EMU's Glenn Bryant calls out EMU students
After 373 people showed up to EMU's CIT game tonight, he tweeted...

Figured Toledo and Ohio fans would be all over this.

With that being said, a 22 win team doesn't deserve this, and Glenn (along with the entire team) should be mad. It's not like this is a boring team to watch either. We have some of the more exciting players in the conference, yet no one cares, and I bet half of the student body doesn't even know who Glenn Bryant is. You can put the blame on numerous people (local media, BoR, etc.), but as someone on twitter said, this is the internet age. You can find out everything about this team in 30 seconds. Come on.

Good for him.

I'm sure he has supressed that all along.

This is *NORMAL* for the CIT and it does not help that EMU started spring break today (as in the U was closed)..

Heck Canisius drew less than one thousand..

Was EMU expecting different?

Poor marketing by the university is partially to blame. Students didnt hear a peep about the game on campus the past two days.

Also, students had to pay to get into the game tonight (which should never happen) after getting into games for free all year.

We really dropped the ball tonight, but anybody could have seen that coming. I just feel bad for the athletes.

While the student turnout is pretty bad (though Miami's isn't much better), when you're drawing less than 400 for a postseason game you have to blame the non-students too. Even if a few hundred students showed up the attendance wouldn't touch 1,000.

The problem is exacerbated at EMU, but don't act like everyone is selling their games out. I've watched every EMU game this year and have yet to see them play in a full MAC gym. Most aren't even half full. Ohio and Toledo get pretty decent turnouts, which makes for some holier-than-thou attendance posts on here (like yours), but it's not just an EMU issue.

RE: EMU's Glenn Bryant calls out EMU students
Its starts from day 1 in the fall when students arrive. All students must pick up their text books inside the football stadium at noon on Saturday....2pm game..........You walk all 30,000 students thru the turnstiles and you post the attendance number. Hand each student a football and basketball schedule and a free t-shirt. They see the team warming up in the pre game and decided to stick around.

Um Nope, I never stated nor acted like everyone was selling out their games. This also wasn't a holier-than-thou attendance post... btw I've not once posted one of "those", you can check all my posts. I was actually asking for all the 11 members to be on the same level and address the 1 "exacerbated" issue.

You know what... I don't blame the students for this one I blame the AD.

http://www.ubbullrun.com/2014/3/19/55249...we-ahve-it

Their effort in selling this game was terrible. If the team played as sloppy as the EMU AD then UB would have made it to the semi finals..

I disagree with this. EMU basketball has a few really good players on the team (my favorite is Karrington Ward) but wow is that a boring team to watch play. The pace is so slow and the offense is generally bad so the whole game seems to consist of blocked shots on defense all game long and running the clock down every possession on offense. I wouldn't pay to see that either..win or lose it's boring.

But has EMU's attendance suddenly dropped since this guy came on campus? It seems like it must be new to him. EMU must have been bringing much larger crowds in the year(s) that he was considering becoming an Eagle.

When I saw that EMU was charging students $5 per ticket, I thought that was incredibly short sighted. Some of these students that stick around the area will be your future season ticket holders. Get them to the game at any cost. I wonder how many $5 student tickets they sold.

In fairness though, since it is spring break, you can't expect much of a student turnout.

Wrong. Hustle Belt tweeted a screenshot of an email sent to ALL students and faculty telling them about the game.

Glenn Bryant also tweeted that student government paid for all students.

CMU turnout is poor but EMU is in metro detroit and a damn good team, feel bad, wish more supported the Eagles. I watched EMU last night, live too far to go in person or I would have. Sickening Oakland appears to be the darling of metro detroit, getting a lot of press with UM and MSU

No other school in the MAC has to compete with so many negative factors that hurt our attendance. Cut us some slack people :) :)

Student government did NOT pay for all student tickets, only a handful. And one email hours before tipoff is far too little too late.
