What I hate about the NIT
If you beat a P5 Team, they weren't playing their best because of their let down of not getting in the NCAA Tournament. If you lose to them, you just lost to a middle of the pack _____ team.

It's a lose/lose.

Yeah. As if those smaller schools aren't disappointed to be in the NIT.

It's a lot of BS too - I would like to see Arkansas beat ISU at their place. Most of the P5 are playing at home and really have no excuse to lose.

In the end....nobody cares about the NIT except the fans of the schools or the sports junkies....

who won it last year w/o looking it up?

It's a good tournament, but it's secondary....like the term g5 vs p5

Having said that, my arse will be there tomorrow.

DT and our team at least deserves that part of it.....

Watched Davidson and Mizzou last night. There may have been 4K there if that. Not sure what the actual attendance was.

Georgetown and WVU played in G'towns old practice gym that seats 2500. They had slightly over 2100 for that game. Thank you Hoyas.

No one cares about the post season except the NCAA Tourney. And that's sad.

I think they should get rid of the NIT and expand the NCAA field to 96.

If they do that, than the NCAA will just make up a rule allowing every "power conf." team with a winning record in and still not allow teams from CUSA in the dance...Teams like us would still be on outside looking in..

RE: What I hate about the NIT
Attendance rises dramatically through the quarterfinals, where there are usually raucous sellout (or near sellout) crowds. Then the semis and finals really depend on the proximity of the fanbases to NYC.

It's usually just the opening round games where attendance is poor (though it CAN be high, I remember Syracuse getting like 28K or so a few years ago and I believe Iowa sold out their opener a couple seasons back). My guess it's not JUST the disappointment of not making the NCAA's, but also fact that you only have about 48 (or less) hours leadup to the game. People haven't put it on their schedules.

Point of fact, a lot of those early round day session NCAA games are played before half empty arenas.

We shouldn't care so much about how it looks to the media. They already have their view of us. What we should remember is that this is valuable tournament experience for our players.
