RE: Memphis in the Final 4
Someone on the comments section of the Yahoo article pointed out something interesting: During the 1985 Final Four, they posted the graduation rates of the four schools (St. John's, Georgetown, Villanova, and Memphis State). They were 89%, 90%, 92%, and 11%. Memphis State was the one with 11%. My, how things have changed!

RE: Memphis in the Final 4
Boy, read through the comments section on that article. A lot of people are enraged because Duke and Harvard didn't make that Final 4. Lots of veiled racism and the like.

The funniest thing is these intellectual types who are so upset obviously don't have any reading comprehension skills. I'm not really sure what they are teaching at those schools. The article doesn't say these 4 schools are better in academics than Harvard. It states that they have the best graduation rates which is nothing to sneeze at.

We've come a LONG way since the mid 80s! 04-cheers

Great news.

Pastner gets the credit for this but I do remember Cal going out and being sure that the kids had laptops and the path to graduation. The one and dones and others who left early probably hurt his numbers.

And if you believe 90% of the Georgetown team graduated, you are naive.
