A very cool concept and opportunity. But could they have picked a less fan-friendly location? It's a great practice facility but it's not a stadium.
Then again, if the publicity for an event on 3/19 is starting on 3/17, it would appear that the teams didn't really want fans anyway. Perhaps the teams conceived it as simply a scrimmage, and the idea to invite the public was an afterthought.

It was in the Owl Club newsletter on 3/13. Still not a whole lot of notice, but more than two days.

I recall seeing it on twitter last month when the Dash released the preseason schedule and it was retweeted by Adams and the Rice Soccer account. But yes, there wasn't any other publicity for it. Apparently the Dash are also taking on A&M and Texas Tech.

Where would you have hosted it? (Genuine question, not snarky)

On March 19-20, the Rice Track and Soccer Stadium will be the site of the annual Shirley Crowe Multi-Events Track & Field Meet.

D'ohhh! There goes my idea. And BBVA Compass is obviously disproportionate for this event. Which I suspect is why it's at the training facility.

Upon reflection, I realize that I've been guilty in this thread of the same negativity that I have derided in other threads: i.e., taking a good thing and complaining that it's not the best possible thing. My bad.

Go Owls!

RE: Rice Soccer vs Houston Dash
Are there any former Rice players playing for Houston or any of the other professional teams in the U.S.? I recall seeing blurbs on some overseas but none in the states?

Final: 4-0, Dash.

Here's a link to the RiceOwls.com article and video on the "spring scrimmage" -- http://www.riceowls.com/sports/w-soccer/...14aaa.html
