RE: Farewell song to Maryland
The only school I'll root for in the ACC is Wake. I literally could care less about the other teams.
With that said, the ACC came out of this in much better shape than MD did; they replaced MD with a superior program, got rid of some terrible fans and moved out of one of the most annoying regions of the nation.

Maryland needs to leave those ridiculous uniforms in the ACC. They will clash greatly with all the snow on the fields in the B1G.

I know that seasons are an oddity to SEC and PAC fans, but the truth is that snow is pretty rare in the Midwest in November. Even in Minneapolis the average temperature is above freezing until December (November highs average 41.2 degrees in the Twin Cities). Snow is more of a January & February thing in most of the Midwest (December-March for Minnesota).

I will honestly miss UMD.
I genuinely want Syracuse to be in a conference with:
UMD, BC, Pitt, PSU, WVU, ND, Miami, Virginia Tech, UConn (basketball), Georgetown (Basketball), Villanova (basketball), St. John's (basketball), and John's Hopkins (Lacrosse).
And have a basketball challenge with the what's left of the ACC (UNC, WF, NCSU, Duke, Clemson, UVA, GT, and FSU).
To me, that would be perfect.

People of the South cant say a thing about snow anymore. Its like they are trying to deny that their own areas were obliterated by winter storms, brought life to a halt and caused huge massive accidents. At least in the North they know how to deal with it.
The talk of snow affecting college football is silly. You are right about when snow actually affects the north. Its a pro football issue not a college one. Hence why Minnesota felt fine with building a stadium that isn't covered.

I did not mention the weather in this thread. Now that the weather lessons have been presented you will have to agree that this year was an exception. I just said those ridiculous unis clash with snow covered fields. It was a joke. I didn't say it happened every week. They clash worse with dead grass... Everyone knows how to deal with weather where they live. The folks in the south do not crank up every fire hydrant in town when it gets 95 degrees either. Anyway, H1, hope you are enjoying the desert. These are some very nice months. We have friends in Tucson

RE: Farewell song to Maryland
When I was finishing school in DC, I spent many Saturdays in College Park watching the Terps. Mark Duffner never could get things going.
I am sorry to see Maryland leave. It is a loss for the ACC because Washington is a valuable market. Virginia and Virginia Tech (and most of the ACC schools) are well represented in the area.

I like the Big Ten and the BTN network. I just don't think that Maryland belongs there.
Please tell me what institution is going to replace Duke and/or UVA in the UMD-UVA and UMD-Duke rivalries.

Penn State. Maryland is going to thump Penn State every year in basketball.
Indiana. Maryland and Indiana are going to have some great basketball games.
Michigan State. This game is going to be a treat every year.

PSU won't notice or care.

Maryland already wasn't playing them every year anymore thanks to ACC expansion. Sorry but your point isn't a point at all.

It also depends on whether or not Rutgers can get its basketball program straightened out. They have the desire, they just need the right personnel running the show. With a strong Rutgers basketball program in a strong basketball State, Maryland and Rutgers should be pretty good at some point in the future.

Will they be rioting in College Park if UMD beats any of these teams? If not, it's not the same.

This is probably not a popular opinion but I'm ok with it NOT being the same. I HATE the rioting. I am all for celebrating but rioting is just F^#*ing stupid. Give it 5-10 years before we play Duke again, let the animosity settle down some. We are "not their rival". Lets make some new ones.
