RE: expanding the NIT?
seem to think the champions from the Big East, AAC, MWC, and even the WAC- are all pretty good teams. Even the WAC champion(New Mexico St) is a 14 seed- and the other 3- are top 7 seeds. Even if the Big East or AAC and MWC didn't have a bid, they would have gotten their champion in.

The only thing that suffers quite frankly is that we have games now that are just unwatchable in the NCAA tournament. If they make the change I think they should, yes the 1/16 line wouldn't be great- but the 2/15 and 3/14 lines would get better, and the 4/13 would have some interesting matchups.

Also, frankly for the 1 bid conferences, if they go to the PIG and win, their conference would get 2 units which gets them a lot more money for the next 6 years. Huge for them.

I can't see them dropping the current tournament format. This is the only time of that the majority of the country even thinks about college basketball and most if it is to fill out brackets with their friends/coworkers.

That's all part of the A10's branding war against being associated with anything labelled "mid-major." There isn't any policy against playing in the CBI, but Richmond and St. Bonaventure turned it down this year, and Xavier turned it down last year. The A10 also asks any media source with a "Mid-Major Poll" not to include any A10 teams in the rankings, though a couple have ignored that request. Is this helping? I don't know, but it certainly doesn't seem to hurt.

The WCC, MVC and CUSA have all sent several teams to the CIT over the years.
Including this year for the MVC (Missouri St) and CUSA (ECU) ... I thought I had listed them above.

Its a moot point whether the CIT would invite Big East teams, as whether formally or informally they'd adopt the same stance as the A10. I presume that the American will have a similar stance next year, in their first year as a Go5 conference.
