I shouldn't be shocked by this stuff anymore but that's just dumb.

The gamut of emotions went from 04-jawdrop to 03-confused to 03-no04-bs to 01-wingedeagle

I don't care about the # ranking but to be put in a group called "teams that will struggle" which is below the "will fight for a bowl" ranked teams is a slap in the face.

Its such a joke, I'm assuming all members of college sports-related press will be going to hell someday.

Terrible, to be on the same page as Purdue is an insult.

Funny how they always rate us low but really have anything bad to say, because they can't

Why do people continue to look at this crap? Do you really expect anything different? If we were to go undefeated, beat powerhouse teams, and then win the national championship, we would be ranked in the 80s or 90s at the start of the next year. It will never change, so why torture yourslves? Who really cares what a publication's opinion is, anyway?

I didn't even bother reading it. My initial reaction was going to be "what a joke." But the way we crapped our pants at the end of the year, maybe it's where we belong.

The ranking number is stupid, but the commentary is dead on..

It says we finished 21st in their poll.. Wonder if I can find what the initial poll was last year or the year before..

2013

73. Northern Illinois (12-2)

No, it won’t be another BCS season, but there’s enough talent returning to expect yet another great year. The Huskies are used to rebuilding – they did it last year on the way to a second straight MAC championship – but now they have to go on with head coach Dave Doeren off to NC State. Rod Carey gets back a loaded offense that led the MAC in scoring and yards thanks to quarterback Jordan Lynch, who’ll be a fringe Heisman candidate. All five starters return up front to pave the way for Lynch and running back Akeem Daniels. Depending on the formation, as many as ten starters return. The other side of the ball is a different story with just four starters back. Ends Sean Proger and Alan Baxter will be sorely missed, and the back seven could use some retooling. Top-tackling safety Jimmie Ward is back and the combination of Anthony Wells and Ken Bishop should be solid at tackle.

2012

92. Northern Illinois (11-3)

The defending MAC champion has to show it can reload and not need to rebuild. The Huskies lose star quarterback Chandler Harnish and top running back Jasmin Hopkins, but the biggest hit comes up front with four starters gone. Top target Perez Ashford and most of the receiving corps returns. The defense has to do some retooling at linebacker, but the entire secondary returns and three starters are back up front.

They are just a bunch of BCS homers. To put O of I before us, Indiana, Purdue and all the other bad BCS teams is an insult to our face. What can you expect though when we aren't a B1G school.

Quote:KIRK: Mr. Scott. Have you always multiplied your repair estimates by a factor of four?

SCOTTY: Certainly, sir. How else can I keep my reputation as a miracle worker?

Likewise, these low pre-season rankings give the Huskies another opportunity to exceed expectations and score legendary upsets over higher ranked teams.

It's CFN. We're low every year. We could be top 10 one year and they'd still put us worse than 80.

Dude, MID season polls are jokes. Preseason polls are just ridiculous. Has anyone done a statistical analyses on these things?
