I suspect that those tournaments have to invite everyone with a winning record just to get a full field.

RE: CBI Tournament
Those tourneys not the ncaa or nit are basically pay to play tourneys. Many schools don't consider playing in them.

Maybe ECU will win the CIT again and claim it as another national championship.

It's games. If I had a team full of young guys I could see the benefit of playing in it. I understand why we declined. I would have gone to the games if we had accepted. I'm good either way.

Better get used to these tourneys because if the power leagues have their way we will be relegated to them.

I'm a bit surprised that MTSU didn't get into the postseason at all.

RE: CBI Tournament
Even if we were inclined to accept an invitation, this year was not the year to do so. With two of our top players hurt, it would be throwing good money away. Is rather spend that money hitting the recruiting trail.

I still want every team contacted to turn these tournments down so they eventually go under.

Their seniors declined the C tournaments according to the main board.

IU can more easily afford such an attitude than other up-and-coming- programs. It might also be that a more senior dominated team would have less to gain from the additional games than one that has younger players. UAB might be more likely to accept next year when we have a larger cast of younger players than this year. The cost vs benefit ratio may have been thought to be negative to do it this year.

Did we actually decline an invitation, or is this just speculation?

The original mention of declining an invitation was speculation and you just mentioned it in passing, so I'm not sure if its true.

If we are yet again talking about whether or not we declined a C tourney invite at the end of next season, we will have grossly underperformed. That would be a nightmare.

My point was to discuss why a school's administration might decide to participate in an "also ran" type tournament or not. It was not a prediction for any particular school but used UAB only as an example of possible thinking should the situation be presented.
