CUSA has a serious perception problem nationally. Britton Banowsky.........
Needs to be out front leading the charge for CUSA. Banowsky is not a leader and never has been. Way to passive for my taste. Need a guy with some back bone that is willing to stand up and say hell no this is not acceptable.

He think c-usa is a stepping stone. He has said as much many times. Yes, he is a big part of the problem.

He knows he'll get his fat paycheck regardless. He is the definition of apathetic.

CUSA, really needs to have a plan for branding. Especially for the Basketball side of the Conference. Banowsky has got to get us in the conversation on the national stag. We need a TV contract that is better than what we saw this year. The TV exposure was sad.

It's not a matter of branding. It's a matter of having a commissioner that doesn't think his conference is a tinker toy.

Just as a reference, when ODU was in the CAA in 2010 - 2011, we had 6 National Games, 9 Regional games, and 3 CAA tourney games (Quarter, Semi, and Finals * (NBC, ESPN, Comcast and others (we had 18 games total). The 2011-12 season (13 Games). The 2012- 2013 season even with only winning 5 games we had 9 games on TV. CUSA this year we had 2 games on TV. To be honest I had to search to see a CUSA game this year on TV. They were few and far between.
They have to get more exposure. Like I said the TV deal....sucks for basketball, especially.

Banowsky is a joke. McGillis tweeted out this week that they were going to do a serious evaluation on the perception (reality) of our conference and do something to fix it.

Banowsky just happenned to be in the right place at the right time, as an underling (thanks to his Dad) to Mike Slive when the SEC position came open.
It was Slive who was the genuis behind C-USA, not BB
Never have seen such ineptness, from letting the first defectors go off scot-free, to not raising a peep over the inequities of the AQ system, to the failure of the CUSA-MWC merger, to the woefullness of this TV deal.
I've never heard him take a public stand for C-USA in the media.
As I've posted earlier, it takes alot more to being commissioner than to invite Sunbelt teams into the conference, & expect the same- or better-results.
Baiscally, BB's ineptness has caught up with him.

i've defended BB many a time.. but after these tournament announcements, I can't do it anymore... MTSU has to sit out, USM / La Tech get robbed because BB doesn't assist with getting good teams on our schedules.

That has always been my concern with him. I think Craig Thompson has a higher opinion of his conference, the MWC, much higher than Banowsky has had for CUSA.
I think that was part of the reason the MWC stayed together.

And some wonder why we are so happy to leave CUSA?

Who is McGillis?
I have to imagine with WKU, Charlotte, ODU, and MT in/coming to the league, that BB will feel more pressure on the basketball side of things.
All of those schools actually care about basketball and presumably USM and La Tech care about it more than perhaps they did over the last 10-20 years.
Can't imagine a lot of school administrators will be fine just keeping the status quo in place.

I know, right? She was the hottest thing going in her day, between Top Gun & Witness. I -like most young guys - had a crush on her.
Kind of sad, age was not her friend, & she switched teams later to boot.
Perhaps she's very happy, as that's all we can ask for in life. I certainly hope so.

Personally, I find it refreshing to see an actress who doesn't feel obligated to convey a younger age via plastic surgery, botox, and hair dye.

Who's this Britton Banowsky person everyone keeps referring to? I'm assuming he is a higher up from the CUSA offices and his 2 responsibilities are to do nothing to promote CUSA and to do nothing. Rumor has it he's related to Ellis Johnson

Our conference doesn't have a perception problem. Our conference has a reality problem.
I love blaming Banowsky for things but there's not a commissioner out there that could have polished this turd.
The problem is in the mirror. This league just sucks. There are some decent teams but none that can maintain consistency at a moderately high level.

where the lack of leadership hurt us was realignment, when we were getting our carcass picked apart with not even a whimper of protest.
the MWC fought back, and they survived. dumba$$ BB congratulated the defectors for "improving themselves".
