The president of the committee went on to explain why Louisville was relegated to a 4 seed, based upon the body of work and the non-conference. Katz then asked him to explain why Virginia got a 1 seed when they had a similar crappy OOC schedule. The pres said that Virginia won the AAC regular season and tournament. Katz then said that Louisville won the AAC regular season and tournament. The Pres was all red faced.

The fix was in.

Good for Katz (not that it changes anything).

It doesn't for this season. It may give Aresco some ammo when he has the come to Jesus meeting with them.

He nailed him on the comparison of Virginia and Louisville. Kudos to Katz.

UVa was fortunate in that they did not have to go to Syracuse or UNC, and only played Duke once (until the conference tourney). Since the ACC schedule isn't balanced, they ended up with a far easier ACC schedule than some others. They finished first, but they played the 2, 3, and 4 teams only once, and 2 of those games were at home. Not to mention the aforementioned losses to Green Bay and Tennessee ... and add in VCU and Wisconsin as well. They actually played some good non-con teams, they just didn't beat any of them, unless you count a 3 point win over SMU (a team not worthy of the tourney evidently).

That just doesn't feel like a #1 seed resume. But Louisville's resume doesn't feel like a #1 seed resume either to be honest. I am just baffled how UVa is a #1 and Louisville is a #4.

With the pod system, when you get a 1-3 seed, you get to play near home. That's the way it works. Hate em all you want, but they play at "home" because they get a good seed.

So evidently RPI, SOS and top 100 wins account for 3 seeds. This year is pretty bad as far as seeding goes.

I don't have a problem with Virginia getting the last #1 seed. Nobody else really wanted it. Villanova had it, then ****** it up. Kansas had it for awhile. Michigan had it and couldn't win. Syracuse had it for awhile too.

I would have traded Louisville for Syracuse. Give Louisville a 3 seed. I said on here before the tournament they wouldn't get a 1 or 2. A 3 was most likely. Iowa State and Creighton deserve to be where they are. Duke and Syracuse are questionable, so I would have slid Syracuse off because of their finish

New found respect for Katz. The selection committee sucked this year. They really did.

Not sure Louise was as mistreated as many argue.

Maybe a 3 seed instead of Creighton?

Syracuse had the same record but with wins over Duke, Villanova, North Carolina.
Louisville has 3 wins over UConn and a win over Cincy.
Creighton beat Villanova twice.
Duke beat Syracuse, Michigan, UCLA, Pitt, North Carolina, Virginia
Iowa State won the Big 12 tourney and has wins over Michigan, OK State, Oklahoma, Baylor and Kansas.

Neither Louise nor UVA were great in the non conference- but in conference UVA beat NC, Pitt, Syracuse, Pitt and Duke.

Can nitpick- but Louise is about where they should be.

I had an epiphany. We're going to play on the second weekend.
