Our alums do not work or live around each other. Our campuses are not within driving distance.

UL and WKU aren't close either and both fan bases will tell you about that rivalry. Rivalries are made on the court and the field, not driving in the car.

i was thinking the same thing. and it's been through several different coaching staffs. same with us and south al.

you two were basically the only schools that gaf about hoops.

unless there's a paradigm shift toward hoops then ga state needs to latch on to someone else that actually cares.

because most DON'T.

I look at ULL the same as we had with UAB back in the day.....

players you love to hate
coaches you love to hate
school you hate losing to more than most

you will never say it out loud (or at least wait 5 years after the fact) but deep down you respect all three on the list. OK maybe not Jesse Evans but as for the players even the "so called" "thugs" (I say that in a context everyone knows...I really do believe that 99% of these kids are really good kids) you would love to have them on your team.

So even in the hate you still have the respect to know they are a program that can beat your ass and care about what they put on the floor. To me that sums up what a rivalry should be. The same can be said about USA and to a lesser degree UALR but that one isn't at the same level as ULL and USA.

Then you have your hated border or instate rivalry that ....you just hate and even if you respect any part of them you would never say it out loud.

We actually pulled off the interstate and found a place to watch the last few minutes and overtime of this game. I had to take a really hot shower when I got to my son's apt in BG just to get the dirty feeling off me from cheering for ULL 2 out of the last three days....

couldn't wait any longer not even the hour it would take to drive the 70 miles to get home! ULL has a good fanbase (use to be great at one time) that's just waiting for a tourney run like this to happen to get behind their program. In a way ULL reminds me a lot of WKU a proud program trying to get back to where they were. Where we different ULL is still football first and WKU will most likely always be basketball first.

From what I saw at the SBC tourney GSU has a fanbase that was wanting a winner and ready to explode if they can build on this year. A core group of fans that will grow as the program does. For this program I think Hunter has the right ideal when he said....

we can't get great players out of high school but we have a shot at great local players 2 years later.

As it should be! That is how rivals go at it!

With that logic ODU is a rival and yet theyre not. A season isnt going to make us rivals.

in actuality your program has been so bad in your previous conference i doubt anyone saw you as a rival. including odu.

more like an easy win like big lots has been in the sunbelt.

Panama, seriously who gives a crap? You guys act like you are Notre Dame, steep in tradition. Outside of basketball this season, you haven’t earned any respect as Sun Belt members. Until then, stop freaking crying!

No... People are on Payton's fathers back for his actions in NOLA. He was already kicked out once over the weekend.

Dude, you're a clown. That's basically the best thing I can say about you. If GSU had won, there is no way we would be worried about the continued bashing of the other school.

Light bulb moment for you 03-idea No fan at GSU gives a crap about ULL or the great city of Lafayette. Never have, never will. You beat us by one point in OT. Congrats! We still know that ULL isn't the better team. Move on man! More to life. Prepare for the tourney. Our fan base is focused on the NIT.

Big talkers. They are found all over the interwebs. Like people who don't take what you are saying for truth until they find a way to use it.

Now I didn't know that many people over here read our boards. No offense, but I don't feel the need to read y'alls(and I like being in the SunBelt, but as Panama said, all of us of conferences we would rather be in), and if we're not that worth worrying about and not a big deal, I'm surprised y'all lurk over there.

So the big selling point for GSU getting into a better conference is?

We live in a huge city.
Our football sucks, and so does it's fans.
Our basketball still a waiting to dance.

I guess you live in a huge city.

Our football sucks... Yeah. Tell me something I don't know.
Its fans... the ones that have survived since we haven't won a home game in 3 seasons are pretty strong. Not many teams could survive that. Proud to be a Season Ticket holder since day 1.
Our basketball is still waiting to dance... No. We danced in 2001. Won a game. When was the last time UL won in the dance?

I guess you live in a huge city... Not really. I mean New York is huge. Atlanta is just a 6 million metro. No biggie.

Ignore the trolls. I've never seen a fanbase so worried about another team's thoughts and opinions after a win as ULL.

don't be flattered, I lurk every teams board after a depressing loss for the melts when I am bored. That dude did not disappoint.

I expect a few folks from every fan base to do the same to USA as well.

for reference, I lived on Alabama forums for about a month after this years Iron Bowl

Panama, seriously who gives a crap? You guys act like you are Notre Dame, steep in tradition. Outside of basketball this season, you haven’t earned any respect as Sun Belt members. Until then, stop freaking crying!
What are you babbling about. Notre Dame? Who said a thing about tradition? Who is crying? You are nuts dude.

Its fans... the ones that have survived since we haven't won a home game in 3 seasons are pretty strong.

Well, when you have several fans flipping out on this board it’s not hard to follow the scat scent to the home board! Get use to it because if someone is not talking about your program or fans, then you probably haven't done anything worth talking about.

I have mentioned this as a deciding factor in the outcome of the game---3 Times the Cajuns rolled the ball about to the half court line and once to the 3 point line---This would have taken the seconds off the clock that would probably given the blue guys the game---POOR COACHING = a LOSS!!!
