No idea why people keep coming up with the idea of dumping Navy. They are typically a solid team and are among our most recognizable brand names. We are not dumping Navy.

And Navy is kind of our ace in the hole to keep the P5 from getting out of control.

So long as a move can be made that will positively effect the pocketbooks of the P5 member schools, realignment will continue
Big 12 only took TCU when they were forced (by A&M leaving and by the terms of the Fox and ESPN deals) to take the best available candidate for #10.
Nobody in the G5 with the possible exception of BYU (and I'm not 100% sure about BYU) brings $20M a year in increased TV revenue to the table.

Bingo.
Realignment is not about feelings, merit, or what makes sense -- it is about viewers and fanbases. There is no G5 team (maybe BYU) that can be added, while maintaining the tv $$$ at a P5; therefore, there will be no additions. Only two teams have moved up solely based on merit, UL and TCU. And the only reason why that happened is that the ACC and B12 needed another member and went with the best available team. A G5 could win 5 straight access bowls and would not get an invite to a P5. Movement into the P5 is going to be dictated by movement by P5 members.
Moreover, there is no reason for either the MWC or AAC to add any members. Except for BYU, which is not joining a conference in fball, there are no more "value adds" out there.

TCU wasn't the best available candidate. They were the available candidate who had had the most success.
Nobody in the G5 with the possible exception of BYU brings $20M a year in increased TV revenue to the table...TODAY. But that can change. Look at where TCU, Louisville, Utah were 15 years before they got their respective "call-ups"
