RE: Coaches
Great hire by Auburn. Hell the violation that led to Pearl's firing isn't even a violation anymore.

I think that used to be the case but with the prevalence of guys leaving early I think the veteran laden teams have really leveled the playing field. I think that's the main reason for the recent phenomenon of deep runs by mid majors when they hadnt made the final 4 for a long time prior to George Mason.

I always really liked Bruce Pearl. Got it done a couple of places.

Agreed. Very good coach, great motivator, and a great recruiter. Funny that the guy who investigated Pearl is now the Compliance Director at Auburn. Just shows he probably didn't think much of the "violations" Pearl committed. Tennessee's Athetic Department at the time was a cesspool and dropped the ball big-time on the whole thing (so glad UC didn't hire that woman who came from there). I really thought he would have held out for a better job to be honest. He would have had some much bigger and better programs than Auburn after him this off-season.

Maybe UC can now get Auburn on the OOC schedule with Peal at the helm. His daughter is on the cheerleading squad (or dance team I forget which one) here.

And that translates into scheduling how?

Uhh... maybe Bruce is more inclined to play UC than his predecessor. He's been to our games... if you follow twitter he has commented about UC basketball on several occasions.

Didn't think much of him before but after seeing him on TV and seeing him come to UC to support his daughter Ive grown to really like his personality. I hope he does well but I think he would have been better taking a good mid-major job.

Just because Pearl has been here to see his daughter does nothing to address the financial side of scheduling. And that is all that matters.

Agreed. Pearl's relationship with UC might be a conversation starter regarding playing but beyond that it's all about the benjamins.

UL lost Behanon and Ware, yet they seem to have progressed more at the end of the year. Pitino just won his 12th conf. cfhampionship. Alford has UCLA kicking ass at the end of the year, he did it at N.M., what do they do ? Same coaches consistently do this.
I believe that teams with good shooters play better at end of the season. They usually hit crucial free throws and open shots. Teams with a poor offense are hurting when they get tired defensively as the season winds down. Usually, it seems that the better teams with offense end up winning the tourney.
Never thought about your good shooter theory... Interesting. I think it took Louisville some time to adjust to playing without those two, especially Chane. He is a big loss.
