I love when Boston College people claim that they are "New England's team" and that UConn means nothing in Boston. However, the column suggests that Boston doesn't care about college sports outside of hockey unless UConn is doing something great.

This Boston Globe column also proclaims that, "UConn is the region’s only hoops powerhouse. Sorry, Harvard and UMass." There was no mention of Boston College in the column whatsoever! 03-lmfao

I have a simple question....just when did Uconn fans become the crazy, bitter ex-spouse of college sports, lashing out at everyone for their plight?? Look at me!....Look at me!....Why don't you all like me!.....Please pick me, please pick me, please pick me! Nobody wants me because everyone is jealous/scared of me!

The article is from a contributor to boston.com

The BC coaching search is front page news in the March 19th edition of the actual Boston Globe e-version. Story written by Dan Shaughnessy. Top of the page!!

So much for who gets the attention in New England!!

Well, I don't know if Boston is "all of New England". Anyway, the reality is that UConn, UMass, and BC all get press to some extent. It is just that BC doesn't get as much press in Boston as you would expect. I have lived in Boston for 10 years now and, with the exception of hockey, I rarely see BC sports covered on the 11:00 TV news on any local station.

By the way, Tommy Amaker is awesome. That would be great for BC.

Husky: I was only responding to your claim where you for some reason took a shot at Boston College:

"However, the column suggests that Boston doesn't care about college sports outside of hockey unless UConn is doing something great......This Boston Globe column also proclaims that, "UConn is the region’s only hoops powerhouse. I am sure you are a smart person and you know that this "opinion" is not factually correct. The article you posted was from a "contributor" (not a Boston Globe columnist) to boston.com (not BostonGlobe.com). Something you misrepresented in your post. The irony of your post - especially you comment of "no mention of Boston College" was that, at the same time, the Boston College BB coaching vacancy was the LEAD STORY (top of the page) on BostonGlobe.com for March 19th, written by arguably the lead Boston Globe sportswriter, Dan Shaughnessy. Not just the sports section - but ALL of BostonGlobe.com!! (It is still on the front page this morning, BTW). It was also discussed extensively this morning on WEEI.

Your point that your rarely see BC sorts covered on the 11pm news is just not true. Probably true this year for BB (with good reason, LOL!), but BC FB game recaps/highlights are typically covered on the local 11pm newscasts. Sure, the Red Sox, Pats, etc get most of the coverage......but they are covered. The fact that the BC coaching search was the lead story on BostonGlobe.com makes my point. They are covered in Boston. Not like the pro teams (but that is an unfair comparison anyways), but they are covered.

Don't know who BC will select as the next MBB coach. Based on the FB hire, I would not be surprised if Bates selects somebody who's name is not among the favorites. 75% of BC fas will criticize the move - until he changes the program for the better and then everyone will claim it was a great hire and they supported the move from the beginning. (Well, that's how the FB hire went, IMO!)

Good luck to Uconn tonight against St. Joseph's (and I am being sincere here!).

Thanks. Sorry if my post came off as a shot against BC.

I am looking forward to Hockey East play against BC. It will be fun, but UConn is going to get demolished by BC.

Anyway, I also have to add that I do miss playing Cuse and Pitt in basketball. Those tournament games at the Garden between Cuse, UConn, and Pitt were the stuff of legend. I am hoping that we schedule you guys OOC if we don't ever have an opportunity to join the ACC.

Good luck to all former Big East teams in the tourney.
04-cheers

Coach P is a special guy. Takes real talent to run two programs into the ground the way he did.

He has earned a wing in the Tyrone Willingham Hall of Shame.

Hmm, is there space in there for Tom OBrien? 03-shhhh
