Talked to a supposed USF booster at AAC tournament.
He said that USF wants to hire a big name.

I asked him to speculate and he threw out these possibilities:

Ben Howland - Would be a major upgrade in my opinion.
Buzz Williams - Everyone knows he's unhappy at Marquette, but he's very highly paid.

He also said that ESPN analyst Tim Welsh has expressed interest- but that doesn't seem likely (nor is it a big name).

USF is going to make a splash hire. Lots of stuff going on behind the scenes.

Pearl would be a great fit at USF.

Thought Pearl was a lock at Memphis from what I've seen on this Board lately.

I know Welsh is not a big name, but until this year, he was the last guy at Virginia to have an, even, decent team. From my vague recollection anyway 03-old

Good for you guys. Too many good players on your team for you to be so mediocre.

You gave us major fits twice this year.

I know you're joking, but if the General really did that, it would disappoint me. The best game analyst out there right now. In this day and age of shoddy sportscasting, he makes games watchable.

Hire Jim Calhoun or Bobby Knight if you want to make a major move.

Wonder if he'd have a cookout at his house to kick things off.

Yes that's what I'm hearing too. The new AD came on board and he will be supported in making big moves to compete at the highest levels. Very exciting times for USF athletics

USF will be next years SMU! There is much talent on that team.

You must be thinking of someone else. Welsh never coached at Virginia.
