Its a nice bump, but Ball State will need to become more aggressive in their pay if he continues to do well to stave off AAC schools

It's a win-win. Lembo gets more money without handcuffing himself to Muncie, BSU gets a larger buyout if he leaves (and maybe he will stay a little longer since he now has the luxury to be picky with jobs).

Nice move by BSU. They're going to be a contender for years to come.

Good move. no guarantee he'll stay but you do what you can. The article said one thing that was wrong and being a BG grad I had to point it out.............

"Ball State is the only team in the country to increase its win total in each of the past three seasons, and the first jump came when Lembo took the helm.
"

BG went from 2 to 5 to 8 to 10. I was hoping for that 11th win to increase by 3 wins 3 years in a row.

A $79,000 raise will not keep any quality coach at the lower levels, when higher level coaches are paid in the millions.

No but 79,000 adds almost 400K to the current buyout for the coach. If and when he leaves BSU will have a nice chunk of change to hire the next guy. Very good move by a team to bump the pay even if they know it won't stop a big raid.
