Sun Belt loses their regional TV deal
The MAC 3-year TWC SportsChannel deal sure beats this:

"The regional sports network CSS is shutting down June 1 after a 15-year-old run."

http://radiotvtalk.blog.ajc.com/2014/03/...wn-june-1/

"With the SEC Network on its way, Comcast and Charter will shut down the CSS regional network managed out of Atlanta on June 1st. The network carried SEC content that will end up on the SEC Network, along with a lot of C-USA content from sublicensed from CBS Sports Network."

What is TWC? Those are the initials for The Weather Channel. Which would be an ironic choice for a secondary TV deal.

Its really not a big deal. SEC is moving everything to SEC Network so we have a lot of local over the air networks that will be needing early afternoon programming on Saturday locally. They also were not paying us a dime either.

TWC = Time Warner Cable.

The Weather Channel would have been so much more interesting.

They wouldn't have much fun broadcasting our games in DeKalb - "Well, it's windy and cold again...."

Yes...but instead of having a sideline reporter, they could have a meteorologist on the sideline discussing why its Windy and Cold in DeKalb.

It would really be fascinating to watch.

The Weather Channel would love Jonesboro.
This week nice spring weather. The week before major sleet and freezing rain storm that put as much as four solid inches of ice on the road, Hit the low 70's this week, chance of snow on Sunday night and Monday am.

At least from you it's week-to-week. In Akron, it's 60 one day, and a blizzard the next, and then 50 and windy the next, and sleet after that.

Production of college sports is so cheap. This channel had so many connections, SBC, CUSA, Southern, Atl Sun, etc should have jumped on this and seen a chance to push their product even more.

If you have a Daktronics video board that is fairly new you have HD cameras with operators, you have a tricaster to switch camera feeds and you have a clock operation board that has the capacity to send the electronic signal for a timeout and how long of a break it is.

You need announcers, graphics and a distribution method. Sporting KC in MLS has abandoned satellite and does their feed with a fat internet pipe. They have one box streaming to the affiliates and one streaming to MLS HQ where it is put on satellite for MLS Direct Kick distribution to cable and satellite providers.

According to the article, that is one of two who cooperate on the Sunbelt deal ... whether they've lost it would seem to be up to what the other partner does.

Most of the MAC has all that. Ball State even has their own sportscenter like studio and shows and affiliate network already. They make shows, highlights, and broadcasts live to affiliates throughout Indiana.

lol...that's Virginia. We have had back to back snowstorms the day after 70 degree temps.

Virginia weather will take you to all extremes. Snow, Heat, humidity, hurricanes, nor'easters, you name it. We get it all.

Given the pending Time Warner Cable/Comcast deal, it might have been an easier thing to shutter it than deal with it in the acquisition. Charter and Comcast are both bidding on TWC, and regulations will likely cause both to wind up with some part of TWC.
