RE: Memphis #5 market for ESPN college basketball telecasts
Interesting tidbit from the article:
"Memphis made the biggest year-to-year jump in the standings, moving from 14th to fifth by doubling its rating from a 1.3 to a 2.6."
Maybe because our games were actually on ESPN for a change!!!!!

ESPN’s top two most-viewed men’s hoops games were also part of the Saturday Primetime series and occurred in the 2007-08 season: Tennessee at Memphis on February 23 (5,281,000 viewers) and North Carolina at Duke on March 8 (5,612,000 viewers). The matchup generated 5,600,000 minutes of live viewing on WatchESPN, making it the platform’s top men’s college basketball game ever in total minutes viewed.
Were a Big name for players as well as ESPN....This is very exciting and a viable platform to build on for the foreseeable future......It's as if they the Big media conglomerates and Basketball Gods are waiting for us to explode and become championship contenders soon!

And we were just behind the 3 second place teams. Nice!

If they had counted dialup and pirate Internet streams based in Croatia we would've been #1 a lot sooner ...

RE: Memphis #5 market for ESPN college basketball telecasts
Eight of last season’s top 10 metered markets finished the 2013-14 season among the top 10 again with Charlotte and Nashville falling out (tied at 11th with a 1.7 rating).
Memphis made the biggest year-to-year jump in the standings, moving from 14th to fifth by doubling its rating from a 1.3 to a 2.6.
This ^ has got to make someone really worried
We could probably get a nice check and make some hay when UL departs if we scheduled an OOC tourney in Nashville...featuring Kensucky;UL;Creighton;Wichita State;Memphis;

might have been a good idea if the Nike Preseason Tourney wasn't starting in a few years.

Quick, someone needs to tell the u of m AD. We need to get out of this southern mentality of playing the likes of Ole piss, Miss st.,Ark. you know the argument. Memphis is starting to have some true market value and we do not need to mess this up with the sec pissing in our face. We need to play ooc schedule that will keep us moving up in the market. Please stop the insanity and get rid of playing ole piss in the coming years!
