Ooookay...so what happens to the SBC and CUSA programming that was carried regionally on CSS?

Nothing. That's bad. IIRC, CSS manages the Sun Belt Network branded games.

This is being discussed on our board as well. I was wondering if maybe this could be good in the long run? It should give us a chance to renew a TV contract with someone NOW that will be better than what we had with CSS.

I understand though it could mean we have NO regionally televised games next season if no new contract is negotiated elsewhere.

Maybe now I can watch games on Dish Network. That was the worst part about CSS games.

Hopefully someone will pick that up, you would think that there are enough outlets out there that want in the game.

This could very easily be the beginning of us surpassing C-USA in TV revenue.

If we got increased exposure on ESPN3 and ESPNU in exchange, I don't even think the Secondary deal would be entirely necessary.

Either way, this does give us the opportunity to at least test what a secondary TV deal may actually bring us.

So what kind of contract were we in with CSS?

And does this represent any loss of $, or just exposure/TV air time?

No Revenue loss that's even a blip on a school's radar with the new playoff money coming in.

Its an exposure loss for a regional TV Network that a lot of our fans complained about because it was only available on cable, and ESPN3 blacked it out locally.

Its not like we got TV ratings from the network.

I don't know if we'll sign a secondary deal, or just work with ESPN to offer more coverage...but it'll get figured out.

Didn't I read somewhere that ESPN3 was either going away or changing drastically before next football season?

FOX sports, NBCsports, CBSports, someone ought to be willing to put us on TV, we a pretty good football conference now, and a really good softball and baseball conference. Basketball has some catching up to do after this season, as a conference we really sucked it up.

Games already carried on ESPN3 so I would prefer here locally just having them shown on Peachtree TV

There is no secondary deal, ESPN has the league by the balls with the original contract that Waters signed on his way out. Lots of ESPN3 in the future.

I would also add:

Note: This is not Fox Sports "South" but rather Fox Sports "SportSouth." I doubt ESPN will allow us to give our secondary rights to Fox Sports "South."

Really don't see how a local channel would work.

With SEC leaving its broadcast syndication deal I would hope we are trying to talk to the jilted tv stations in our area about an 11am package.

As fox regional nothing ESPN can do about it as long as it complies with the contract.

If the league cant get a secondary deal this year then let me do an individual deal locally.
