I cannot believe that nobody has commented on this video. It makes very clear what the problem is. It is simply the defensive scheme. Look at where these screens are being set. Most of them are several feet behind the three point line. It is has been brought up a million times by many posters on here; why in the world are our guards going over the top of screens that far away from the goal! Our big guys, as in all of them and not just Dom, have no chance of defending guards 30 feet from the basket. The only one who effectively hedges screens and is quick enough to cut the dribbler off consistently is Pellom. I am willing to take my chances going under the screener and letting their guards shoot 30 foot threes as opposed to going over the top, letting them break down the defense for an easy dump pass and dunk or kick out to a wide open shooter right on the three point line. We have seen this defense for 5 years now and it still baffles me.

I've said this since moby Dick was a minnow. The fact that Pastner can't see it fuels the thought that he is in way over his head. It is baffling.

We give up the baseline WAY too much regardless of who is in there.

I mentioned during the game how UCONN set up its offense so high above the 3pt line. We couldn't figure it out, even though it was the third time we've seen it.

Clip 2. JJ gets screened at almost half court, this time leaving Nichols isolated to guard Boatright (I think that is him at least) at half court. Wide open 3

Clip 3 Geron goes over the top of a screen 5 or 6 feet behind the three point line, again leaving Nichols isolated against Napier several feet behind the three point line. Wide open 3

That is a schematic issue.

I'm not sure what you mean by "schematic" issue here. We're terrible at guarding a high screen, which has been apparent all year and most of last year. What does that have to do with the defensive "scheme" though?

It is our defensive scheme to go over the top of all screens regardless of how far away from the goal the screen is. That is what I mean by a schematic issue.
