No, transponder was turned off after seven hours of flight.

Plane flew up to four hours after that.

So it could be anywhere from Central Asia to southern Indian Ocean.

They SUSPECT it was a hijacking. Tough to prove with no evidence - no transmissions, no plane.

Yeah, the latest seems to indicate it possibly flew undetected for hours. Over water, totally plausible, since there's no radar coverage.

But then it would've have to have landed right near the coast somewhere - and even then, it likely would've been back on radar before crossing a shoreline. Of course, there are some countries over there with less-than-stellar communications systems, so I suppose it's possible it could go inland in the right location without detection.

Still seems like a bit too much what-iffing than reality in my logical brain, but who knows at this point.

Thanks for correcting me Major. All these reports are confusing seeing as how once something comes out there has always been a contradicting report. Maybe it flew into Atlantis.

According to signals engines sent as part of routine maintenance plane actually lost altitude (down to under 30,000 feet) after transponder was cut off.

I've done a pretty good job of ignoring this news. I know a lot of people are transfixed by it...I'm getting my updates from YOU ONLY.

GO BRONCOS!!

Actually Nacho latest online report I read seems to corroborate your post - transponder was turned off less than an hour into flight, plane had enough fuel to keep flying for another six-plus hours afterwards.

I hear the media's picked up on this more since it was first posted:

Sometimes the simplest explanation is the correct one.
