c'mon El Paso! The CUSA tourney doesn't come around that often.

We got over 10,000 for regular season games against Rice and FAU Today's crowd was loud as always but we could do better.

I believe price of tickets has something to do with it. El Paso is a low wage city and tickets cost $16.50 per person in the upper levels. You wanna take a family of four to one game and that's gonna cost you $66. And then there's the concession prices to add to that.

Next time they should consider $8-10 tickets.

Saw the game online. 8k must have been tickets sold because it looked more like 6k.

I thought that individual game tickets could be purchased? There has been a lot of confusion regarding tickets this time around.

Sounded like more than 11k booing our kids tonight when they left.

05-nono You didn't think we were going to cheer them, did you. Even they knew it was in fun.

Attendance for UTEP game
You can't buy tickets to individual games only to the separate sessions. For example if you bought a ticket to the UTEP game , you got to see the following UAB/Charlotte game.

*I think UTEP fans are just waiting around to see if we get into the semi-finals or championship.

Aren't a lot of your students off campus for Spring Break right now also? If so, I'm sure that didn't help with attendance either.

If every single available ticket is sold, we would still be far below 12K. I still have not figured out why but the conference blocks off several sections. You can't buy tickets in those sections. It happened in Tulsa, Memphis, and in El Paso before.

I could not disagree with you more. I think the 6:00 start time had more to do with it than ticket prices. Have you seen what the Electronic Music concerts and festival cost? Have you seen how many shows sell out? All of them. There was a recent concert at the civic center where every ticket was $200. It sold out.

No way should they lower ticket prices. They have a healthy reserve due to the amount of all session passes that were sold. Families of four have no problem paying $15 a ticket for every 3D animated movie. Cinemark can't open enough theaters fast enough in El Paso. Claiming El Paso is poor is not the answer.

I agree that every UTEP game should be packed. It is what it is though. El Paso is shining pretty bright (again) hosting this event. No need to drag El Paso through the mud because only 8K tickets were sold. You have to remember, 8K is more than anyone averages in CUSA.

6K would be half the arena. It easily looked 3/4 full. In person versus a screen. Also, fitbud loves to stir up the UTEP fan base.

...heard that....promise you that all of my comments are only relative to viewing and not as a smack attack...

However..............I still contend that Charlotte or Biloxi could come close in the total gate tourney rake....

3,916 tickets sold for the first session. Two games that did not include UTEP.

That's a good point about the price of movies and music festivals.

*but I also remember a home game in the CBI tourney where they made every seat $5 and the place pretty much sold out.

I think $16.50 is just an akward looking price. How much were the monster truck tickets? Every seat $10 and they sold out the Sun Bowl on Sat and Sunday.

I do believe fans will show up if we make the semifinals or championship. But with the importance of a game like tonight's and tomorrow's, the arena should be filled.

RE: Attendance for UTEP game
The CBI tournament games were $10.

$16.50 was just one of the prices. Not all of the session passes were the same price.

Agreed, the The Don should have been packed. Not because of entertainment options. Not because of the median income in El Paso. It should have been packed because we have a strong fan base and it was an important game.

Then the realities kick in. So many people have a hard enough time making it to a 7:00 tip off on weekdays.

the monster truck tickets were $12 each, probably the worst $24 I spent in my entire life.
