Namea I have been told are at or near top of Auburn list: Bruce Pearl, La Tech's Mike White, Duke asst Jeff Capel, S Miss Donnie Tyndall.

They won't be getting Pearl...although he does have an orange blazer

I didn't think Pearl could accept a HC job until September because of his show cause?

He can accept a job. there may be some restrictions on traveling for recruiting, but he is definitely in the mix for all the top jobs.

Auburn is not a top job.

Not sure, but I would doubt it. His choices of head coaches down there lately have been turrible. He wanted Turner Gill for football and wanted to keep Barbee.

I expect Mike White or Tyndall from SMiss. I think Pearl would only use it to force someone else's hand. Mike White fits all the criteria and his playing style and success with it would bring in players...

It is a crap program & the Southern Miss job is a better job right now.

The pay isn't the same though.

Auburn will throw a bunch of money at a proven coach.

It wasn't before Tyndall.

Southern Miss doesn't have to put up with all of the "other stuff" that you would have to at Auburn.

Double my salary and see how much "other stuff" I can put up with.

No doubt Barbee is enjoying his buyout.

2 years down the road he might feel differently.

If you recall though, it took Auburn & Barbee several months to come up with a signed contract.

I guess one could ask Jeff Lebo if it was worth it.

Having a better team than Auburn does not mean its a better job. USM is broke and they don't pay any attention to basketball. They have a horrible arena and the coach may be among the lowest paid in CUSA. Tyndall will be gone at the first opportunity

Getting paid more for 4 years is fine, nothing wrong with that.

You do have to consider where you will be if it doesn't work out in those 4 years.

Lebo's coaching career is pretty much flat now, same for Barbee's.

Right before 2000 several developers at our company moved on to get more $$$'s as a result of Y2K.

The interim dollars were great, however after they are over you have to think about what you will be left with.

Auburn at least 80% of the time will be a worse job than Alabama.

With all of the other schools in the SEC, getting your W's in the conference will be tough.

Especially with Arkansas, LSU, & now Ole Miss trying to take it up a notch.
