Well in the long run most are after the money..Remember most head coaches have bigger egos than anyone you know.....WKU fans never thought Felton and Horn an alumnus of our school would leave, but both did for Georgia and south Carolina...2 teams with zero basketball tradition and football schools....Both were fired after 4 seasons, but hey the have a lot more money now I am guessing, so I guess it was all good for both...

go over to the spin board....almost every post deserves the ubiquitous response of 'money'.

...in the end, it almost always comes down to coin....

our populous is driven to attain greed....land of opportunity baby

But is $1.5 mil for four years followed by permanent unemployment better than 20 years starting at $400K building up to $1.5 mil. I guess it depends on whether the coach is seeking quick riches or prolonged respect.

...that was the point....you know I believe in DT and what he believes in....however, who knows with the restructuring and tv monies how AUB may decide to pull the trigger....things change quickly in this world....just throwing out thoughts....

I love rumors but I assure you that Tyndall isn't going to Auburn. When he leaves USM, it'll be for a step up, not a suicide.

Yep, he turned them down last year....

Three straight 20 win seasons, 6 20 win seasons in our last 8, one NCAA invite. (and argued we got snubbed the year prior, as we missed the NIT due to the situation similar to this year (lots of one-bid conference champs didn't win their tourneys.)

Five straight 20+ win seasons.

What is "wowza" about that? Is that not how he should be judged?

Well, go ahead and fire yours then.

What the heck are you even talking about?

Firing a coach and having him hired away are two completely different things.

I wouldn't want UAB to throw money at Haase if Auburn tried to hire him because he hasn't proven to be worth that kind of treatment.

I'm not saying to fire Tyndall, that would clearly be stupid. But throwing the checkbook at him to keep him here? There are plenty of coaches out there that can continue the momentum...Tyndall hasn't shown that he's worth fighting over against a big-money athletic department, IMO (and clearly neither has Haase).

He wasn't talking about a coach being hired away. He was talking about preventing a coach from being hired away. That's the opposite side of the same coin.

You clearly aren't familiar with Southern Miss's basketball history. If you were you'd see the correctness in doing what it takes within reason to keep Tyndall here.

yep....
