Kevin Stallings probably won't sleep to well. Bandy was horrible. Pastner would be a candidate there. Not saying he is going. Vandy prides itself on being the Harvard of the south. Odd stuff happens at this time of year.

I disagree. I think X likes Barbee, believes he can coach, and sees him as one his own. He simply tried to strong arm Memphis into hiring TB because X likes to call the shots. I recall him saying that if TB was hired he'd leave us with a couple of recruits. X likes the idea of creating his own family tree of coaching with him playing the role of godfather.

And he's found that "it's not as easy as it looks"!

TB did a really good job at UTEP. Then the $EC called and he jumped for it.

Could he have turned around a non-$EC program? Maybe. But he should have know that $EC and basketball do not coexist well.

I caught a stat flipping thru channels one day when KY was playing somebody. The announcer said that KY has more SEC championships than all the other SEC schools COMBINED.

How bad must a conference suck in basketball for one school to dominated like that for decades?

I think everyone pretty much predicted this when he was hired. Something along the lines of '4/5 years and he'll be done.' And Barbee got 4/5 years of SEC HC pay, gets to be a well-paid assistant somewhere (most likely with Cal) and ride off into the sunset. The guy is only 42 years old and has probably made over $7million (he was paid $1.5m/year at Auburn for 4 years or so and then he was at UTEP and probably netted somewhere in the $300k/year (and he was there 4 years) and then his assistant pay when he was here was probably in the area of $150k/year.

I never thought much of his 'coaching' and losing at home - to us, no less - on his home court at UTEP was a pretty good indicator that he wasn't a real stellar coach.

42 years old and pretty much set for life financially. Not bad.

One of the toughest jobs around. Head Coach at a college with big time boosters. Football or Basketball.
