Yep. Still on schedule to open late this year. Hotel will be next year.

I don't see there being any chance of it actually finishing on time.

That seems to be a Memphis phenomenon. When I worked in Memphis it seemed that any of our jobs that were related to new construction or renovations never finished on time.

In Texas they build at lightning speed. I know the weather has a lot to do with it, but I was quite impressed after I moved here and there are rarely delays in construction.

Except at my house where my wife is driving the flooring contractors crazy trying to decide on a stain for the new hardwood floor.

Well if you look at some of the city's latest projects.. Beale Street Landing (over a year overdue and I believe over $10m over budget), Sear's Crosstown (over two months behind on just breaking ground), the exit off onto Mallory (took over 4 years to complete an on and off ramp) and shutting Sam Cooper to one lane (over a year and a half worth of construction which should not take over 6 months to complete.. Should give you an idea of what to expect..

Wasn't the biggest advantage that Bass Pro is a private entity?

I don't think a lot of Memphians loved this idea at the beginning, but it was the only project that didn't require the city to spend $250 million to get off the ground. There wasn't much real estate investing going on in 2009, either.

Herenton had even discussed the idea of tearing it down.

The Bass Pro in Springfield has gone under several renovations and has stayed open through it all. A warning to the wise, Morris is not afraid to constantly change things up and sometimes it takes a while. His Wonders of Wildlife Museum was nice, but it wasn't nice enough so he gutted it and made it much larger and it's been 5 years in the making but it's getting close. He has bought up some Branson area golf courses as part of growing his Big Cedar resort, there's an incredible par 3 course that he bought up and closed five years ago, well he's opening it up again along with a long term contract for a Legends Tour Par 3 event.

This is a link to the photo progress of the WOW museum and aquarium
the 2-20 has work on a cypress tree that I'm sure will show you what the ones in the Pyramid will be like.

I can guarantee the retail will be done but all the features will not and he'll use it as a way to lure folks to return to see whats new.

Big Cedar resort is legit. I love the entire North Central Arkansas and Branson area. So much to do. I also visited the Bass Pro Shops in Springfield back around 2000. I'd be interested in seeing what it looks like now because I was amazed when I first visited it.
