What seed would NIU be?
Obviously a huge IF and probably won't happen, but what do you think NIU would be seeded if they ran the table in Cleveland?

They'd be 19-16. I say a 15 seed.

I'd tend to agree with this.

Weren't there some predictions that had WMU or Toledo as a 15 seed and those are 2 of the best teams in the conference.

I have no idea...but if WMU and Toledo are really a 15 seed...wow has MAC basketball fallen. If our conference champs (who were also good in the reg season) can't get a 12 seed, ick.

RE: What seed would NIU be?
It depends on how many upsets there are in other conference tournaments. The 4 worst tournament winners play in at Dayton, and right now NIU's RPI is 198. Last year the cutoff was 180, which should be about where NIU ends up if they won out.

The next two teams also get 16 seeds but don't play in. Last year the cutoff for that was 150.

With a little luck NIU would be a 16 and avoid the play in round. With a lot of luck they would get bumped to a 15 seed.

Also no way in hell Toledo gets a 15 seed with a 38 RPI.

It would be B.S. for any MAC champ to be a play-in. God forbid a 19-11 Minnesota gets left out in the cold...

A play in 16. If Toledo or Western Michigan get win the MAC I would say a 14.

RE: What seed would NIU be?
NIU is the 7 seed in the MAC tournament, if they win the MACC they'll have a record of 19-16(8-10). By comparison, in 2010 Ohio won the MACC as a 9 seed with a record of 21-14(7-9) and was a 14 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

If NIU goes to the dance they will be a 15 seed or better, no chance of 16 seed/play-in.

That Ohio team had an RPI about 100 spots better than where NIU is at right now. They also had a couple of moderately decent non-conference wins, which NIU doesn't have this year. The resumes aren't really close. Based on who I'm seeing seeded 15th on most sites, NIU would probably be seeded behind them. Now, some probably won't win their conference tournaments, but on paper NIU is a 16.

RE: What seed would NIU be?
I would say 16 if there's not many small-conference tourney upsets.

15 at best.

ESPN in their weekly bracket predictions has WMU being a 15 seed, and in the weeks they'd have Toledo going, putting them at 13.

WMU, at a 15 seed would be 23-9, winning the MAC regular season, too... along with wins over New Mexico State & Toledo as "notable" wins.

I think there's a chance WMU would get a 14 seed. I don't see NIU getting above 15 unless there'd be crazy upsets all around in small conferences.

I wonder how many MAC teams will get invites to the post season tourneys.

Play-in 16...A solid 15 seed if TJ Lux was granted an extra year of eligibility.
