Louisiana has officially begun construction of the 55,000 sq ft expansion to the IPF (Indoor Practice Facility). See attached video link.

Also started this week is the South End Zone project. This will increase seating to over 37,000 and will include a new visitors locker room and mega-video board.

Both are part of Phase I expansion which is fully funded. When completed, Phase II will start that will expand Cajun Field to almost 50,000 seats with suites, restaurant, recruiting center, and administrative offices. Also included in Phase II will be the renovation and expansion of the baseball facility, track & field facility, and a new basketball practice facility. A new softball stadium was built last year.

The CajunDome is currently undergoing a $17.5 M renovation for basketball.

So let me get this straight. When a Houston fan starts a thread about their new football stadium it is ok? That we do not have the funding, coaches negatively recruiting against Louisiana stating they will never see those facilities. Well guess what they are wrong. We have the funding and they are getting built.

I don't care if we do stay in the Sun Belt, I would prefer the AAC of course but I don't see that happening. But outside of Houston there will be no G5 program that will have as nice of facilities as the Cajuns do. Not La Tech, Tulane, SMU, Rice, USM, UAB, South Al, Troy, UNT, you name them and across the board their facilities do not compare.

If you want to talk about athletic performance we can do that too. Football 3 straight 9-4 seasons with 3 straight bowl wins over San Diego St, ECU, and Tulane. Basketball 20 win season. Baseball currently Top 10, Softball currently Top 25. There may be another G5 program that is as well rounded, but I do not see many.

If you want to call that pimping go ahead.

I know Houston is in the AAC. They are a G5 conference now that the Big East AQ slot has gone away.

You are delusional if you believe those other programs are not also improving their facilities. North Texas currently has better facilities then ULL, and that will not change. We are currently in the process of beginning to build a multi-million dollar hotel and convention center next to Apogee Stadium. North Texas will also be building a new baseball stadium and track facility too. We just finished remodeling the Super Pit with new floor, base-line LED boards, and Jumbo-Tron. The difference is, I feel no need to start and thread about it on the Conference Realignment Board, and take swipes at other programs in an attempt to elevate mine. I actually spoke out against the attack threads aimed at ULL. Some of you Cajun fans are very difficult to deal with. Your thread belongs on the Sun Belt Board.

Years later Paul Tulane gave a substantional donation to this university and the legislature added the word Tulane to the official name to become what it is today Tulane University of Louisiana and taking it private.

Louisiana's new facilities are really the sign people have been waiting for that the school is dedicated to growth, sure it's 30 years late but better late than never.
