Reason to avoid politics ... (most) of us can remain civil even when we wildly disagree about Rice athletics. Sure, there is the occasional tiff, but mostly we can agree to disagree and cheer the teams at the end of the day.

Not sure we can do the same with the wildly divergent political views on this board, from pinko-commie liberals to live-in-a-bunker-with-guns-and-canned-food liberatarians, disagreements will get heated fast. Some people enjoy that kind of political dialogue and there are certainly many places to engage in it! Just not here (please). Because most of us will do our best to shout down the introduction of political discourse on this board, even if we 100% agree with the contents of the post.

Agree - at the end of the day, everyone here has a vested interest in Rice and athletics. We wouldn't invest time in this if we didn't care. Sure we have opposing views, but thats what makes it fun (it was good to meet some of the posters who I generally disagree with on here in person )

I enjoy discussing politics with people who share opposing viewpoints as me, however it must be in person. Tone is hard to convey on forums (sometimes). Comments that would be perfectly genuine can come off as snarky etc.

Tiki and I make a point not to discuss politics even face to face because we know how far we are apart there. Just stick to the things we agree on, like "Go Rice."
