With attendance averaging less than 1000 this may be the best they can get. I saw one game with an attendance of 670ish and saw a high mark at around 1400. Edit, just found their average of 1130 (wondering if that is paid attendance?).

I lived in Boone for several years. App has a fantastic arena but a) it is a football school first and foremost and b) basketball season is in the winter when the snowbirds are gone and there are a lot of vacationing skiers.

Now there is certainly no excuse for averaging 1130, but 2500 is probably their upside (barring a historically great team).

5000 students currently live "on campus." They've got to get more student participation.
The other problem is App football fans hang the black and gold up once basketball starts and the Facebook posts go from Go App to Go Heels.

Cuonzo Martin to Cal.

The deal was worked out for Martin to go to Marquette but then Martin talked to Buzz Williams.. and he warned Martin off .. told him to not take the job because things are in a mess up there.. Williams took a half million dollar cut in pay to leave Marquette and go to Virginia Tech....all this according to reports on Knoxville TV...
After all the crap he was put through for the past 3 years here in Knoxville, I hope coach Martin is successful and appreciated at Cal....he was successful and very much not appreciated in Knoxville.. He probably can't wait to get out of here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cuonzo went to the NCAA tournament once in the three years he was at Tennessee with three, 20 win seasons.
